Should polititians forefit their pariamentary pensions if they leave the economy in worse state then it was when they came to govenment?

When you are a government you can spend a huge amount and can't be sacked. Then you get rewarded for that spending spree top the tune of about 1/2 million yearly for life, in most cases around 30 years. That is $15million per member paid by the people who got srewed.
Justice?
That's democracy. The people employ via voting the Party that they believe is best suited to do the job from the available delegates at the time.
The employment contract in this case is generally 4 years. When that contract expires, it is up to "us" to decide whether the contract is renewed.

In this cas they provide a service.
soldiers lay their life on the line.
In the case of a government squandering taxes or or not protecting taxpayers taxed the are providing a diservice.
Pollies should lay their pension on the line 🙂
Well our current Prime Minister did get a sandwich thrown at her....
jokes aside, I stand by what I said above. Soldiers are well aware of what benefits their job attracts and the disadvantages.
The Prime Minister and their Party also provides a service. It may not be very good service in the opinion of some/many, but they do provide a service.

4 years of carte blanche and even if you rip the economy to shred you get to be rewarded.
Its the reward for bad judgement or deliberate damage that I object to.

Good service would get rewarded
Even bad service would have its rewards while in government
It is the pension I am refering to

I am sure that the threat of forefiture would enhance the performance of government members

I object to it as well Podds, however, where does the responsibility or fault really lay? With the employer or the employee?
In saying that, I don't believe that it is a reward for bad judgement, it is a benefit that comes with the job.
The people are aware of this before they "employ", it's no secret. That's the risk we take.

I disagree, love.
I am positive that any Party elected to government and their subsequently chosen Prime Minister does not enter the job with the intention to do a really bad job. I would think that they would do the best job that they possibly could or know how to do.
Sometimes they are not very good at their jobs and some times they get it right and are natural born leaders. But like any job, it is difficult to know just how well a person can do a job until they get in there and actually start doing it.
