Should the Australian Navy know the position of it's ships at all times?

What is that saying, once is a mistake twice is a coincidence, I read 5 times last night.

Do you think they went into Indonesian Waters on purpose?

Did they get caught out?

Is the apology believable?

Was it just an accident that it happened 5 times?

I see Idonesia says it is going to increase naval patrols of the Indian Ocean after Australia's incursion.

Mr Barnas says that three Navy ships have been sent to the region where Australia is understood to have been turning back asylum seeker boats. Another Naval Frigate will also be sent to the area.

He says it reflects Indonesia's commitment to stopping what Indonesia calls illegal migrants.

The criminals are making money, but not the Indonesian govt.

I think the cost of managing 16 overcrowded immigration centres, police patrols, immigration staff and patrolling their borders to keep the incompetent navy captains out of their waters probably costs a whole lot more to the Indonesian community, than what the criminals are earning. I doubt they pay tax...and I think a lot of that money is sent back to the brokers in other countries (which includes Australia).

Seeing wer'e making assumptions - I think there would be a fair few ppl in the Indon Government who aren't averse to getting bakseesh from the people smugglers. Indon is well known for the corruptibility of it's government.

Thanks for keeping the thread going Karen, it seems some people will believe anything that this government says, even when it is so obvious that we are being lied to.

Oh I totally agree, Hawk.

Our own governments have been in the thrall of foreign investment since colonial days.
