Wise move not discussing with some, I've noticed members are reluctant to participate for awhile now.

And just so I'm on topic lol.....I can understand your post and the feeling you would've felt during that one interaction.

Felt intimidation from a non response, from a mother of a child at the same childcare establishment...ooh scary...

What was the Muslims women's intent by 'intimidating' another mother in the centres sign in area?

Most people do that without announcing it. Free choice whether people post or respond..

Study the definition of "intimidation" in your free time.

frighten or overawe (someone), especially in order to make them do what one wants.
"the forts are designed to intimidate the nationalist population"
synonyms:frighten, menace, terrify, scare, alarm, terrorize, overawe, awe, cow, subdue, discourage, daunt, unnerve;

I find covert 'hints' intimidating.

that's not what she said.  she said she

couldn't understand what the person behind

the niqab was saying to her and had no indication

whatsoever because - and this is is my own

assumption - she couldn't tell if the person

was smiling, indifferent, annoyed, angry.

am i right?

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Intimidation
Intimidation (also called cowing) is intentional behavior that "would cause a person of ordinary sensibilities" fear of injury or harm.

Re: Should the Burqa be banned in Australia

Original post:

This is an example of why i find them intimidating.
Its my opinion.
Im sure there will be those who will disagree with my opinion but disagree all you like, it wont change my opinion

At the kindy the other day i arrived at the same time as a woman wearing a niqab.
I opened the door and held it open for her. Then, as we both got to the sign in book at the same time, i said "You can go first" and smiled. She just stood there.
She said something but it was muffled by the niqab. She looked at me but i have no idea what expression she had. So we both stood there at the sign in book.
In the end i shrugged my shoulders and signed the book before her.

Changed to confront

"Julia- you are right. In that example i will change my wording to confronting."

con·front

meet (someone) face to face with hostile or argumentative intent.

"300 policemen confronted an equal number of union supporters"

Re: Should the Burqa be banned in Australia

DDB what intent do you think the Muslim mother had towards you? Other than just wishing you would just hurry up and sign the register and move on.

A different perspective is not rude or interpersonal.

You don't seem to be able to explain why you felt confronted by a Muslim mother and you should be able to.
