Critics have charged that the ban is religiously intolerant; some even claim that it’s intolerant of women, but the truth is that the Burqa is dangerous to women. - The Burqa Covers Up Abuse
Countries where the Burqa is commonly worn also have higher rates of domestic violence. In Afghanistan 87% of women reported experiencing domestic violence. In Pakistan that number goes as high as 90 percent. Domestic violence is also a major problem in Saudi Arabia.....................................

@para-slights wrote:Of course you would have high domestic abuse in those countries with high poverty and little educational programs. You would find similarities of domestic abuse in poorer suburbs of Australia. So far the only people who have something to fear are the poor Muslims from irate Australians (who are more told to be irate than can actually justify). A video of upset people about Australians mocking the dress - I remember the furore trying to see The Last Temptation Of Christ (at least it wasn't in a Paris cinema where Molotov cocktails were thrown) and the anger and death threats and vandalism when the Victorian Gallery dared to show the painting P*ss Jesus. There are radicals within every group we shouldn't make everyone suffer fear because of the actions of a few. Plus the government is milking this for a heap of reasons.
I'd just like to correct you on your comment on where domestic abuse might be found in Australia. Domestic violence, child abuse, infanticide, etc. follows exactly the socio-economic graph of the population. In other words, lawyers, doctors, police officers, plumbers, architects, uneducated, the poor, etc.etc. are all represented in the same ratio as they are in the population.

Deb the bugua is cool to wear allowing the air to flow around hence why Arabs wear such flowing garments. Caftans maternity frocks etc can hide a multitude of weapons too so should be ban them?

yep, that's right Twinks and there are other religious cultures here in Aust. that wear different clothing to us too. Driving through some certain suburbs when the children were little, my son asked me hey, how come there are all these guys walking around who look like Abraham Lincoln & I realized he was quite right, they did look like that
there are some people here who wear only orange too
I dont think I have even seen a muslim woman totally covered, mostly their faces are showing here & I don't have a problem with it. I wear what I like, so hey, why can't they

Yes, in Iran all women HAVE to cover their hair and body, but here they do not have to; most wear what they want. In Iran women want choice, in Australia women want choice too, but some people would like to deny them making the choice.
