Disturbing story. I sense we haven't heard the last of this, I am sure there will be appeals. So sad for the family and friends of Lisa Harnum, not to mention Lisa herself. RIP.

What happened to life sentence, he took a life, so he should spend the rest of his days in jail.

Life is pretty cheap. The trial for Daniel Morcombe's alleged murderer begins today. I hope that he recieves a much longer sentence.

With this one they should lock him up and throw away the key.........they should bring back the death penalty for this guy for what he put the family through and for taking Daniel's Life.

......Meanwhile, Ms Harnum's mother revealed she has signed a deal with Channel Seven and Gittany's lawyer flagged an appeal against her client's conviction.
After Justice Judy McCallum handed down the sentence in the NSW Supreme Court today, one of Gittany's sisters stood up and declared: "In the name of Jesus Christ, he won't be doing any of that time."
She was removed from the courtroom.
A woman in the public balcony whooped loudly in apparent celebration. As Gittany was being taken down, the same woman shouted: "Off the balcony you go!"

I can never see Daniel Morcambe's parents -- his mother in particular -- without getting a big lump, a raw ache, in my throat. That poor little woman. So brave. She'll never be the same again. I worry about her. The father is strong in his own way. And the brothers will live with it -- nothing will manage to keep it far from their minds. I wonder about a god who can let a mother and family suffer this way.- - who can let children suffer as Daniel suffered
As to Gittany and his publicity loving off-sider ---- Lebanese. Lebanese. Yes, some of them are good folk. And some of them are animals. Don't know how or why that fool of a girl and her sibling got hooked up with Gittany. Sounds as if it cost her a bundle and I will go to the trouble to contact any tv or movie company which elevates her above what she is on the back of a horrific murder, to express my disgust and intent to boycott
Maybe she didn't show for the sentencing because for the first time, she feels safe knowing he's gone for a long time and can't hurt her because she's fulfilled the role of 'faithful believer' in her narcissistic boyfriend (if that's what he ever was). No Lebanese gangs will have reason to come looking for her now. She did her job but the creep is safely away where he can't hurt anyone for a long time
As to Gittany -- he'll shrink rapidly in prison unless he's able to get his hands on black-market steroids. He's a mental case and someone should have put a bullet through his skull a couple of decades ago. He's a deluded freak with delusions of grandeur -- a nobody - a wannabee -- a cheap crook trying to live an imaginary life in a mid-city apartment on the proceeds of drug money. What a waste of skin. Who took a life. Hope it's a warning to women to steer clear of any guy who can't show you how he's earning the food you eat. And hope this case serves as warning not to stick around for the sake of a few soon-dated 'fashion' rags and a mid-city rented address. Yes, they will hurt you. Some will kill you. And at teh end of the day, those guys are gay to boot and trying to overcompensate by being seen with a couple of fake gel boobs
Death penalty. I'm in favour. Anyone trying to persuade me with the 'better to let ten killers walk free than hang an innocent man' are wasting their time
I'm tired of money disappearing into the pockets of the low-lifes known as the 'legal industry'. Will be interesting to see how much of that poor old woman's money will actually reach her extended family members once the 'legal industry' is through dragging the case on until there's nothing left. The old lady who lay dead in her home for eight years, I mean
Fact is, most people, worldwide, are tired of seeing money ripped off them by governments in the form of taxes being frittered away by the 'legal industry' and the same worthless ten percent who make up the criminal element
There is no death harsh enough for the slime (Brett Cohen, aka Brett Cowan, aka whatever he calls himself now). Instead of keeping these worthless pieces of carp in prisons and instead of supporting a joke of a 'legal industry' -- I'd much rather all those millions were invested in diagnosing the creeps as they emerge from the womb. If not before. It would be even better if they were diagnosed in utero and aborted
I also believe -- seeing as we'll be stuck wiht supporting the bastwards for ever -- that their aiding and abetting family members should be incarcerated along with them. Brett Cohen aka Cowan aka BS's family knew what he was. He'd been imprisoned before for the same thing. The details were on the MAKO files. Same with Gittany. Same with most of them. Then they wail and carry on when their familiar piece of excreta is apprehended. Off to Manus Island or similar with entire families imo --- and be sure to sterilize all of them first

I loved this comment:

I'd add "with a noose around your neck"!

Re Daniel M ... In NSW , murder of a child - A standard non-parole period of 25 years is prescribed for murder cases where the victim is a child under the age of 18 years; item 1B.
The murder of a child has always been considered a crime of extreme gravity, whether committed by a stranger or family member.
I hope it is at least the same as that in QLD.

My poor old dad (ex POW) prior to his death, said : This is a very worrying world with what Man does to Man.
