Since 1983...

In 1983 my then husband earned $175.00 per week as Foreman on the Shire. I was not working and we provided everything for nine children.

Later in the year we sold our house for $21,000.00, that wehad bought in 1970 for $7,500.00

Today the same house is on the market for $380,000.00

1983 we had only black and white TV in a big console. No mobile phones, no computers for each member of the house. Children had to learn their sums without calculators and had their spelling corrected by the teachers. No microwave ovens and no dishwashers. People still used to write letters or greeting cards to be posted by Australia Post, and took photos with a film in a camera, to have the photos put in an album after they were developed and printed.

I could go on and on. 1983 was a special year for me.

Times surely have drastically changed in a short time.
