I just watched Materchef US Season 5 Episode 1
(Thought I better start a new thread and not hijack the Australian one)
Plus we can add Hell's Kitchen and Kitchen Nightmares to this one too.

It's ok Polly, I don't think anything you posted shocked me LOL
can't have, or I'd remember (I hope)
mmm - I've done cooking and pastry apprenticeships when I was young, does that count?

I think it's Hotel Hell Season one on You Tube?
not sure - it doesn't say, and not sure how many episodes are there yet.
Lots of the stuff on Home Cooking is reasonably ordinary....
I was talking to the OH before, he said he'd do it with me
He does family roast night on a Tuesday Night (Roast Lamb tonight) and we're going to do the UHC thing on a Wednesday nights. Then Thur and Fri, everyone is out, so that's just quick and easy meals that they can grab as they come and go, the MC cooks Sat Sun nights and LC cooks Mon nights

darling hubby has been informed that if he decides to take early retirement in 2 years,he WILL be cooking for me,lol! he's willing to learn simple stuff,so i won't have to cook after work too often, and i can satisfy cooking urges on the weekends, both here and with my little family i'll be cooking for.

My OH dabbles a bit - he is a brilliant "home cook", you know all the I spose old fashioned favourites that his mum probably taught him, he's better at a lot of that sort of stuff than I am.
.........................
Looks like I only have 6 episodes of Hotel Hell - not sure if that's the whole season or not.
Haven't watched last night's MC yet - forgot about it!

I'll wait till Polly pops in with specific commentary
BUT
Just had a quick squizz then at the pressure test. (so haven't watched everything yet)
I make most things from scratch most of the time - even Puff Paste, though I use store bought if just using small quantities or just something quick. Make my own when doing freezer stock ups iykwim or making something like a beef wellington
But it had never even occurred to me to ever make my own spring roll wrappers! NEVER - haven't made them that often, but when I did, had alsways used commercially made wrappers
same for won ton wrappers too and I do use those a fair bit for a variety of things
not sure why it never occurred to me? I mean, I make my own pasta and pastry, but never thought about those
not even sure I could and get them fine enough? They are a lot thinner than even a raviloi dough, eh?
wouldn't they be hard to wrap tightly if fresh dough was used?
*shrugs*
I reckon I would have struggled with that challenge as a best case scenario
