Poor memory does not figure for finance whiz
Arthur Sinodinos has enjoyed a reputation as a whip-smart details politician, which is why his appointment as Assistant Treasurer made sense.
In the crucial role he could be counted upon, with the Treasurer, to stay across every aspect of the national accounts.
This carefully earned reputation was all but exploded during five hours in the witness box at the Independent Commission Against Corruption on Thursday.
Grilled by counsel assisting, Geoffrey Watson, about what he knew of the profligate spending of infrastructure company Australian Water Holdings, Sinodinos claimed almost total ignorance.
There was the $164,275 spent on a corporate box at Stadium Australia; $28,738 on limousine hire; the $159,500 in retainer payments to Solutions R Us, a lobbying company owned by Liberal fundraiser Paul Nicolaou.

the fact that turnbull was out defending him this morning indicates he needs defending. he may not face any further criminal procedings like thomson or williamson, but thats only as a consequence of the born- to -rules ensuring their crimes are legal through legislation as they are doing right now with the financial advisers legislation (interestingly drafted by sino ) The amount dwarfs thomson and williamsons indiscretions but is mostly legal, convenient that ..

ASPIRING treasurer Joe Hockey has been caught breaching parliamentary rules after failing to declare a family interest for almost his entire 17-year career in federal parliament.
Mr Hockey declared the directorship of Steel Harbour Pty Ltd held by his wife, Melissa Babbage, in May last year among a series of "new positions" under spouse declaration rules.
But business records show Ms Babbage was appointed to the role in 1998.
Pecuniary interest register declarations are supposed to be made within a month.
The revelations come after News Corp Australia revealed earlier this year Arthur Sinodinos, tipped to be Mr Hockey's right-hand man as finance minister in an Abbott government, failed to declare six company directorships in his first year in the upper house.
imo he should have been out after that

Paints, it's all so twisted where we begin ?
Maybe at the mistrust of treasury to check their policy figures and working as per the charter of budget honesty .
The fact that the policies and costings to them were not as claimed and promoted in a pre-election flyer 'fully funded and fully costed'...it looks like it was all 'just made' up in order to get votes and get into power to me.
Not to mention that Black hole in 2010.
Everywhere I look I find another twist...possibly all connected ..who knows and who should just take this Government on trust as Tony Abbott told Australians Pre-Election ..after all that has happened and is happening ..we'd be mad to keep trusting
