Seriously cops have little to do if they are attaching L plates and my family stickers on unmarked cars to catch people out.

I think the overall message of "disguised" police vehicles is :
Which vehicle has an undercover copper? Which hasn't? .....better drive to the road rules just in case.
I've noticed a few undercover cops around my area (after they've pulled over vehicles) caps on back-to-front, surfboard on roof of car, etc. Good.

Probably, I only have the media to go by and that at times I have little respect for publishing the truth.
And even though my comment is an over simplication, there are good ones and bad ones, like esay mentions, there are the ones that give bikers a bad rep.
Those are the ones the police are looking for. (Once again a very general remark to just make a point)

I don't have an issue with it if it keeps me safe from idiots.

A fair bit of "notoriety" is nothing more than media beat up,
One brawl where a shotgun was involved and the group I rode with became "notorious",(my brother had a bit of
difficulty sitting for a few days as he had a few pellets removed),

They used to follow us around and we would get escorted to wherever we headed on runs,(roads used to get
blocked and at some servos others were prevented from entering whilst we were there).

My sister-in-law and her partner are both members of the Ulysses Club. They go on many weekend runs and I don't think the police bother them much.

I misquoted.
From the link provided in OP
โThere are special circumstances when it comes to police โ the only things they are exempt from is drink and drug driving,โ the spokesman said.
