So Abbotts BMW wasn't even part of a proper tender...?

As the Holden saga continues more outrageous behaviour comes to light.

  • Firstly, Abbott (or any of his Mnisters) did not meet with Holden in the lead up to he decision. No meetings, no correspondence, nothing.

  • Then, the Opposition (led by the Deputy PM and his loud mouth Treasurer) taunt Holden in public via question time rather than through a professional forum goading them into making a decisin and calling their bluff.

  • And at the same time, they tell us gleefully that Holden didn't even bother to tender for the Government fleet of cars and that is why our PM has to drive a BMW.

So now it turns out that they DID tender, along with Audi and Mercedes Benz. But our government chose BMW.

The taunts about how disorganised Holden were that they couldn't even tender came 2 hours before the car manufacturer made their decision. After Holden execs and staff messaged each other with "Are you watching question time?".

Can they do ANYTHING right??

so you believe Tony Abbott is personally handling the tender process?

i would be surprised if he even knew it was out for tender.

Holden would have made this decision before the government refused them any more money.

a decision that big is not made in 24 hours. it would have required a board meeting probably many meetings.

the government called their bluff, they just wanted propping up for their last few years of making cars in Australia.

It is obvious Holden has no social conscience and is not deserving of any more money

No I do not believe that Abbott was personally handling the tender.

However, the Liberal Party made a great song and dance this week about Holden being too disorganised and uncommitted to bother even tendering. That turned out to be a/another big fat lie made solely with the intention of misleading the Australian public. They were stupid enough to think they wouldn't be caught out.

And no Holden would not have made this decision regardless. The agreement was already in place for them to continue manufacturing until 2020.

Yes, but Labor signed off on the deal and abbott and co are cancelling everything Labor had a hand in.

They call themselves adult while behaving like spoiled brats and idiots.

Makes sense he chose a car brand that has links to the facist nazi's.

Bullet and bomb proof too....why would he need that?

Good to see the new Government being financially responsible as promised.

Does that mean the FBT changes for leased cars stays now because we won't have the jobs to save? I mean the libs were up in arms when those amendments were brought in claiming it would have a disastrous effect on the car industry. How come Treasurer Mouthalmighty hasn't blamed the previous government for Holden's demise? Is he still choking on the Graincorp paperwork?

wish I had a BMW

*sigh*

but I saw an incredible looking Mercedes 3 series in a parking lot the other day - now that was nice.

Or a rolls, now that would be cool. Did you know that if they break down, they send an encloswed truck to collect them and tow them? It's not good for their image to see a broken down roller.
