So Many Hotel Rooms, So Many Taps

I never thought there were so many different types of taps for showers and handbasins. During our travels in England and now in  Germany, it amazes me how many different designs there are.

From the standard old hot and cold on either side in the older hotels to those with levers you have to lift and turn for hot or cold. Or press down and twist. Those you simply hold your hands under to sensor start. The horizontal bar with hot and cold turners on either side to pulling a cord hanging from the ceiling to start the shower in one renovated old mansion turned BnB.

It was quite a challenge at shower time figuring them out while we had 5 nights, 5 different hotels, travelling up the coast of England as far as Whitby then back to London to fly out to Germany. With Germanwings.

England didn't warm up much at all it was mostly around 20 degrees, much like the winter weather we left behind in Aus.

Germany by contrast has been warm and sunny

Having a good adventure, the days are just flying by

Also having a bit of confusion with the different symbols on this ruddy hotel computer keyboard.

grrr.

Seeyas.

Icy, let me know if you find a bathroom with the 3 seashells. I've wondered about it for a while now.

Guten morgan icy,

Hope your holiday in Germany is as wondeful as mine was. Loved the Rippchen mit sauerkraut, couldn't get enough of it.

The Adolph Wagner wine keller in Frankfurt was a haunt not to miss.

We miss you here, nothing happening and all the good old posters who had something politically interesting to contribute have disappeared, just the stinking thread that seems to self perpetrate with h8te rants.

I have put up a couple of threads but it's all leftist replies and Labor loveins ,absolutely no one else. Looks like they got what they wished for but it makes for a very barren place now.

Happy travelling. Heart

Heading back to Frankfurt tomorrow, Nics, to return our hire car and fly home on Wednesday, with a stopover in Hong Kong.

We´ve had a great time even though the weather has been cold and rainy all the month we`ve been away. I think we´ve had the same kind of weather we left behind when we left Sydney.

The relos have been feeding us as if we were a cpl of hungry chicks. I won`t be able to look at food without feeling queasy for quite some time lol.

I`m really missing home now and looking forward to getting to familiar things.

I'm cool with right hand drive now I'll have to adjust to left-hand when I get back. Woman Very Happy

There'll be lots to catch up on, Jilly, there hasn't been a skerrick of news from Australia here.

They've accommodated a lot of Asylum Seekers here even in this small village near Bayreuth, just outside of the Czech border.

Re: So Many Hotel Rooms, So Many Taps

There was some news here that many Euro countries have now had to close their borders because of the hundreds of thousands of African economic migrants flooding in.

We must really look at the root cause of this movement as many of these African countries have been raped, pillaged and murdered by the millions by their very own people they elect, the despotic warlords and military juntas.

Pouring money (aid ) into these countries, which prospered and thrived for centuries  without it,  has done a lot of damage and the real help would be something like an army of volunteers protected by the UN to help with water and crop advice, there's just not enough done to lift these people out of the hell their leaders have visited upon them.

No education, no skills, no European understanding of that culture, it's a catastrophe just waiting to happen like the no go  Muslim ghettos  in France and UK.

Technically it's now illegal for EU countries to close their borders to other EU nationals (a source of increasing political controversy in the UK - see links below). But the UK is under increased siege again from non-EU migrants trying to smuggle themselves illegally into the UK (from the French port of Calais - what's so terrible about France?).  A transport strike in France has led to a backlog of stationary lorries, in or on which the immigrants try to hide themselves, hoping to be transported incognito into the UK via the tunnel under the English Channel:

UK public opinion is hardening. UKIP (UK Independence Party), the fast rising anti-immigration, anti European Union party, scored a large increase in its percentage vote in the recent UK general election:
