So disappointed in Joe :(

I cannot believe how much Mr Hockey has disappointed me this year.Woman Sad

ASPIRING treasurer Joe Hockey has been caught breaching parliamentary rules after failing to declare a family interest for almost his entire 17-year career in federal parliament.

Mr Hockey declared the directorship of Steel Harbour Pty Ltd held by his wife, Melissa Babbage, in May last year among a series of "new positions" under spouse declaration rules.

But business records show Ms Babbage was appointed to the role in 1998.

Pecuniary interest register declarations are supposed to be made within a month.

Re: So disappointed in Joe :(

The thing is Joe knows the rules, how could he let this slip past him?

I make no secret of always liking Joe Hockey, I have ignored little slip ups and made excuses in the past for most of his blunders and the negative media attention.

(I also think he looks unwell.)

you only get a 50,000 dollar fine for insider trading to the tune of millions in the private sector hawk. like Gay.

Insider trading is taking advantage of knowledge, a polly can have laws and policies changed to suit their interests, thats more like corruption at a government level which I consider a far more concerning thing

i guess its more concerning at govt level. Gay was still unloading shares on people in the full knowledge they were about to plummet. multi-million dollar fraud surely deserves a custodial sentence ? it would if you were an employee of gays and defrauded Gunns.

I'm not sure exactly what he said but it was during the discussion about his wife.....He said something about not wanting to know about her business interests.

Re: So disappointed in Joe :(

I haven't time today to go look for it.maybe tonight.

No excuse though for a future treasurer?

I ignore many things I don't want to know about but they are not pertinent to my position............ as this is to his.

One week a fella goes to jail for stealing a few empty shipping containers, the next Gay walks free with $750,000 profit for insider trading.

Gay and his buddies did the damage to Tas economy than successfully shifted the blame and hatred to the greens.
