So disappointed in Joe :(

I cannot believe how much Mr Hockey has disappointed me this year.Woman Sad

ASPIRING treasurer Joe Hockey has been caught breaching parliamentary rules after failing to declare a family interest for almost his entire 17-year career in federal parliament.

Mr Hockey declared the directorship of Steel Harbour Pty Ltd held by his wife, Melissa Babbage, in May last year among a series of "new positions" under spouse declaration rules.

But business records show Ms Babbage was appointed to the role in 1998.

Pecuniary interest register declarations are supposed to be made within a month.

Me neither PCT,

We don't need to believe him though do we..that's why MP's are obligated to know about and report on these things (as they would be aware).

they are not given the priviledge of self deciding to cover their eyes, stick their fingers in their ears and singing la la la ...or to say that was the case 14 years later  and expect that to be believable much less acceptable .

I don't think anything the Libs could do now would damage their triumph over Labor. They could run down main street singing hey diddle diddle whilst a lit candle was sputtering out of their... & they would probably garner even more votes.

how many Australian's do you think don't support our Democracy and our Laws enough to think that this a joking matter ?

Joe Hockey ...I mean The Hon Joe Hockey, is  member of the House of Representatives....A member doesn't get to create his own rules ,that being to 'ignore the rules' and apply that only to him/her.Do you know the main purpose of the House of Representatives ?

see previous posts from the news articles  re ommission and/or giving incorrect information and the punishment for such.

also if you are able to ....consider why the rule exists and how important it is.Still think it funny ?

I posted that scroller in response to Freaki's comment about it not being much of an interview.

Well, it was not a relevant interview, it was just a nice friendly chat giving Joe the opportunity to justify a serious breach of policy.  As others said spouse's assets have to be declared, saying that he did not know about them makes it only worse.  It his duty to know.  Ignorance is not an excuse.

Re: So disappointed in Joe :(

he didn't even know the correct year she took up those positions when he did register them as new  positions? lol

My money is on him knowing all along...hence the very reason why they weren't registered....

until he felt that he had no other option than to do so Smiley Embarassed

Re: So disappointed in Joe :(

It isn't about what damage can be done to the ALP, it is about Joe's credibility. Hence my disappointment in him.

I always thought he was honest and reliable and I could believe, that if he said it, there was a good chance it was the truth, now, it appears I was mistaken.

Re: So disappointed in Joe :(

Just waiting for politifact to be labelled 'one sided/controlled by the left/corrupt/linked to the rockafellas/communist'.

A guy that needed surgery to control his weight is going to be the guy that has the will to control this countries spending?

Then we have Labour who cannot do it either.

Is there a third party option?
