My daughter and her partner celebrated their 1 year anniversary since they first started going out yesterday and went out to dinner, and then to Mt Cootha in Brissy.
Whilst there he pulled out a box from his pocket, and presented her with a white gold diamond engagement ring, and proposed!!
She phoned me shortly afterwards to let me know the exciting news. Of course I burst into tears I was so happy.
Jake is a lovely young man, very caring, and really treats her well. Out of the half dozen or so young men she's been out with he is by far the nicest one, most level headed and who gets on well with his parents.
Unsure when the wedding is to be, but for now I'm just so happy for them both.

They actually picked the ring out together a few months ago. Browsing in a jewellers shop and he casually looked at rings and asked her which one she liked the best. So next step was to layby it, and using another ring she wasn't wearing, as a size guide, got it resized.
He's had it hiding in his drawers for a few months apparently, just waiting for the right time to pop the question.
givemeaspell, my daughter is 24 in 2 weeks time, and Jake is a few months younger than her.

Thank you beani!
I am over the moon, still crying now that they have officially announced it on Facebook, LOL, and after seeing all the lovely messages coming from their friends and family.
To see Jakes posts where he says how happy he is etc, really touches my heart. His mum said how happy she was and how much she loved Tara, and how good she was for him.
It has made this year a very special one!

It won't last. Five years time they'll be divorced and you'll be stuck looking after a depressed single mother and twins with autism. :-x

Vintage, mother of the groom, must have been so exciting for you. My son hasn't had a relationship in a while, he's gone out with a few girls, but they are just friends.
They won't be getting married for a couple of years, wanting to save up first, but that gives me time to get myself in shape to be a proud mother of the bride.
givemeaspell, hope it all works out for your daughter and her young man. It is lovely seeing them so happy, especially if they've had heartache in the past.
