...of stuff ups made by the Abbott Government?
The government has appointed (without any recruitment process, merit considerations, interview and even without the GG approval which is the usual process) the anti Human Rights Commission advocate, Tim Wilson as the (and this is truly true) Australian Human Rights Commissioner.
In case you don't know who Wilson is, I can fill you in just a little -
He is a prolific writer on all things right winged with ridiculous views. A good example is an article in the Australian last month titled: "Who's on first, gay black man or disabled Muslim woman?". The article itself isn't worth reading as it is full of garbage but I think you can get the general gist of this guys attitude from the title.
And his first published article after the appointment? Did it mention human rights for our indigenous people? Or our disabled people? Or asylum seekers being held in detention centres? Nope. He mentioned 2 specific bugbears of his - firstly, that the police have no right to interview family members of bikies and secondly, the innappropriateness of unions (an allegation only BTW) to donate to the cause of same sex marriage.
This person is now head of human rights in Australia.

Sorry Martini but do you ever give up complaining ? Surley you have something positive and constructive to add afterall this is our elected government and we as a whole have chosen it to lead our oountry.
I realise not everything this government does will be to your liking but the previous government made terrible "stuff ups" to and you did not compalin then.
I'd like to respond to a number of issues you have brought up Newstart:
What "stuff ups" did the previous government make? Was it the economy that now appears to be in miraculously stable condition? Was it foreign diplomacy they stuffed up? Or was it education? Which "stuff up" are you referring to exactly that the Liberal Party campaigned on but have now gone unusually quite about?
And yet we get a "stuff up" per week from the current government. Why aren't YOU complaining about that.

Those that did vote for the LNP - doesn't mean some of those might be wishing they didn't around now either.
The LNP is not doing well in the Polls.

I'd like to respond to a number of issues you have brought up Newstart:
- I will never stop complaining about appalling government regardless of who is in charge
- Yes I will give Abbott some credit - for appointing Natasha S. Despoja to a critical role. I posted a thread about it but no-one was interested.
- The government was not elected by "we as a whole". As I keep pointing out to you - Rudd had a higher majority vote than Abbott. But of course the Coalition got in thanks to being bedfellows with the Nationals and various right winged groups...

It could be a matter of those of us who are interested keep getting extended detentions and can't comment.

Oh and I forgot to mention -
When Barrie Cassidy was appointed to the relatively innocuous position of board member at the unimportant and non influential Australian Portrait Gallery, all hell broke loose in Liberal Land. Even though he even forfeited a salary.
Brandis had kinniptions, held press conferences, Murdoch press had a field day and these boards went crazy with stupid accusations even though it turned out THAT was actually a legit appointment. I recall you getting involved in those discussions.
Yet THIS appointment is a serious one. Not a (minor) museum board advisory but one that influences peoples lives and shapes a nations attitude.
And you think I shouldn't complain about it? Oh come on!
Get a grip and take a look at the reality of what is happening in this country Newstart. You're no dummy so I know you can't be 100% happy with what you are seeing despite the defensive bravado you display on here.

I don't think ns takes any notice of what is actually going on in politics in any detail. More likely to only read the sort of stuff nw posts here.
Rarely posts to the topic in the opening posts, just posts to have a go at other posters.
If she/he thinks Australia's economy is comparable to Greece's at the current time .. well......??
IF they are running a very successful small business (s) as they claim then that must have been made possible under the Labor Govt, so why would they constantly knock them?

No that's unfair am (IMO).
I think Newstart offers up opinions. Which is more than can be said for some others. But I do wish s/he would think a little more carefully about the context before making statements that can be ripped apart.
Eg. No point telling me to stop complaining when s/he complains/ed bitterly about Labor.

In the past has criticised things like Labor proposed changes to super funds but doesn't even know the details of those changes.. those are the things that get me...not even knowing what you are criticising and there are a few that do that.
In fact, I think it was ns, that told me last week not to post news stories about LNP failures.. hello?
