These people disappear off the face of the earth and we are given no clue as to whether they are safe or dead or back in India or sent to their death in Sri Lanka?
And aside from the ABC and the SMH, there hase been barely a murmur by the Australian public.
Have we completely lost our compassion??

no matter what Australians say or results of any wretched polling say on this issue - or even a graph (LOL!) and no matter what I say or Nero says or any other poster here......these actions by our present Govt are in CONTRAVENTION of the Geneva Convention.
......where are these reported 153 asylum seekers that have been 'disappeared'?
This is very, very evil and wicked

Wonder why Scott Morrison refuses to comment or disprove claims of a second boat, carrying 150 people, including women and children?

According to abc news report there is the possibility that there were a total of 3 boats, not 2.

great letters in WA Today, this is one of them....
Former Prime Minister Malcolm Fraser has said that handing over refugees at sea to the country which caused them to risk their lives to escape its persecution is akin to handing over Jews to Nazi Germany. I never thought I would write a letter in support of Fraser, but I am.
The policy of Tony Abbott (my esteemed local member) and Scott Morrison on asylum-seekers has passed being immoral and heartless. Now it's downright wicked.
Once again, it should be pointed out that there is no such thing as an illegal asylum-seeker. Asylum-seekers, under UN conventions to which Australia is a signatory, are legally allowed to seek asylum wherever they want.
Added to that, the government's refusal to speak to the media about "on-water" events is cynical in the extreme. If the media were able to let the public know what the government is doing to asylum-seekers, the government’s precious western Sydney votes may well dry up. In any democracy, a free media is essential. Once a government decides to curtail the freedom of the media to report on everything they do, it's a very slippery slope.

They were seeking asylum from the Rajapaksa government in Sri Lanka, which has an appalling record of mistreating Tamils who had (or may have had) any connection with the Tamil Tigers.....
.........a minister of the Crown refuses to tell the public anything: he won’t even acknowledge or confirm known facts.

polls say the majority think that the budget is unfair, so will we be seeing a thread from the "moral" majority on that? or only when it suits?

only by those that read the "eminently interesting" ninemsn for "news", similar to watching the "eminently interesting" bolt the dolt show for what to think - bolt being the one found guilty of racism by our courts - hardly something to crow about really.

and human compassion but we will just keep pretending that morrisson is only doing whatever wickedness he does in the name of some fake concern for "deaths at sea", it would be funny if it wasn't so disgusting, dangerous and inhumane -
Tamils to be returned after Australia accuses Sri Lanka of torture
Australia is preparing to return more than 200 Tamil asylum seekers to Sri Lanka, despite alleging the country is responsible for government-sponsored torture, abuse and mistreatment by police and security forces.
The Tamils, whose boat was intercepted by a customs vessel last week, will be transferred to the custody of a Sri Lankan naval ship at sea in coming days.
They will be returned to Sri Lanka, the country they originally fled, raising concerns Australia will breach its non-refoulement obligations under international law by sending people back to a place where they face threat of persecution.
At the most recent assessment of Sri Lanka at the United Nation’s Universal Periodic Review – during which all UN countries have their human rights records assessed by fellow member states – Australia accused the Sri Lankan government of complicity in human rights abuses.
