Every child at Majella Catholic Primary School received two pairs of shiny new shoes yesterday, thanks to the efforts of teenager Sean Levy.

My goodness, parents eligible for FTB get the generous School Kids Bonus (not canned yet) for school expenses including shoes.. what do they spend it on?

It is great to see that the age of the social conscience is present and active in some of the youth of today TGSE,
Well done to that young man. That area has been one of considerable financial and social disadvantage almost since it's creation I believe and his efforts would indeed be welcome.

Perhaps the parents are from disadvantaged back grounds and don't know the importance of good school shoes.
This thread is about celebrating the young man's deed not about attacking parents we know nothing about.

Uniforms & Shoes, school books, school fees ... in that order.
Nothing wrong with wondering why SO MANY children aren't provided with shoes by their own parent(s), which is what this story draws attention to also. Especially since there is a very generous SchoolKids bonus provided by the Govt for this very purpose.
