"I find it quite strange that some people want an upper and lower house majority held by a single party for years to come. "
Perhaps you would like to try the "Westminster System" then FN?

IS: "wouldn't they pay out more if the Libs don't win and what happens to those who placed bets on Labor to win ...if Labor do win ?
No IS. the bookies generally pay out more when the favourite wins, and if the ALP won they would still be bound to pay up.
"Nearly all forms of offline, land-based gambling are legal in Australia, which helps to explain why Australians love to gamble as much as people of any nationality on Earth! From pokies and housie to sports wagering and lotteries, there’s no shortage of gambling opportunities available to the Australian player."
FN: "The LNP announce they will free up the gambling rules and Rupert's buddy rewards them."
Show us the announcement then FN
"Here we have people celebrating what is in effect the attempted sabotage of our democracy." that is from cuckoo land
" a gambling king" who exactly might that be ?
"a stunt from a company that is attempting to influence the election as it knows it will enjoy open slather gambling with the coalition."
Some here obviously know little about gambling organisations or current gambling opportunities within Australia as we have "open slather" already.
"i wonder what xenephon and wilkie think of these underhand attempts to influence the poll."
I think they know, especially Wilke: "Despite securing Government by agreeing to champion Mr Wilkie's agenda, Ms Gillard broke the deal just weeks after getting a two-vote buffer in parliament."
That aside, I would bet most of the posts are attempts to "blame" anybody (bookies, media) for the coming election result, rather than face up to the reality of a government which a majority (FN's "the mob") will judge as not wanted on the coming 3 year voyage.
Salted wounds:
Kevin Rudd and Labor is $11.50 to win the election – their highest price since betting markets opened immediately following the 2010 federal election.
• The Coaltion are favourites in 90 electorates
• Labor are favourites in 56 electorates
• Katter’s Australian Party is favourite in 1 electorate (Kennedy – QLD)
• Independents are favourite in 1 electorate (Denison – TAS)
• 2 electorates are currently too close to call (Lyons – TAS, and Lingiari – NT)
The Coalition are favoured to win 34 more seats than Labor.
Doesn't that just make you want to vote with "the mob"

this is the most obvious of stunts. of course sportsbet support the coalition, has anyone seen the coalitions policy on problem gambling ? 'self regulation ' what is that saying again ? 'dracula in charge of the blood bank'
at !.5 million cost to them (sportsbet) they get to promote the candidate who has promised them open slather.
this smells bad, and looks bad.

Just wondering, do sportsbet - or any other betting agency for that matter - base the odds they offer on the number of bets placed or the total amount of money wagered?

I have seen no gambling promotions on the forum, but then again I am not glued to it like some I know. i have seen quite a few betting odds on the election results. I have seen a lot of football results and predictions as well. Even though I do not follow football i don't class football results obnoxious.

No offence taken

I find it obnoxious that these gambling businesses are so frequently advertised on this board. Not everyone is a gambling addict ..isn't there a gambling forum somewhere you could all use?
Oops edit...sorry she ele, my post should be directed at those who are promoting gambling sites.
No offence taken, Karen - I knew what you meant. I would like someone to answer my question though..
For example: if 100 people each put $10.00 on horse A and 20 people each put $100.00 on horse B how is that going to affect the odds being offered?
