You are allowed one work of literature, one food type (eg flour, rice, pasta etc), one box of the same canned food (eg canned tomatoes), one tool (hammer, saw, Swiss army knife), and one item of clothing apart from what you are wearing.
You can assume a plentiful supply of fresh, drinkable water, materials to build rough cooking facilities (eg a bbq), lots of driftwood, fish, palm leaves to make a shelter.
You will be rescued in about 2 weeks.
I'd take LOTR, rice, canned tomatoes, and a state of the art Swiss army knife and a long warm coat.

literature - Swiss Family Robinson
food - Roast Lamb and veg. because there are no sheep on this island
tin food - chicken in a can because it has no place in society
tool - swiss army knife complete with nail file
clothing - ruby red slippers so I can click my heels 3 times and get back home - leaving behind the chicken in a can of course.
I have no intention of waiting to be rescued, I am a modern woman and plan ahead. 😛

Margo and Cat_M ... how about you replace the box of cans with a box of Scotch bottles? I'm flexible like that 😉
I'll add in 12 bottles of chardonnay for me 🙂
Pepe, I don't think I've ever eaten chicken in a can. You can take the world's supply of canned chicken and dispose of it. YUCK.

google it katy - you will never ever want to look at it again.

I've seen it in the supermarkets, Pepe. Makes me shiver, cringe, and feel rather ill. In the distant past, I've eaten a canned beef stew that my mother bought for me ... it was so gross. I think chicken would be grosser, but I don't intend to find out.
We have, in our pantry, canned tomatoes, corn, coconut milk, lentils/beans and that's about it.
