Yes. In other states there are people who are people who are unlicensed for manual happily driving around without having the auto liscense. Also people who have driven auto for years, when they transition to manual and have done everything correctly liscence-wise still have that memory coming back every so often. Some days when tired or distracted, that's when it can become a momentary problem.

You'll have to translate that one.
Here in NSW - a manual license allows you to drive an automatic - automatically. lol

Hello, Martin, it's been a while. I hope you're keeping well. ๐
She has to live with the consequences of her actions.
That truth will never go away.
Why send her to prison when she is already in a prison, that of her conscience.
Don't think for a moment that she sleeps the sleep of the untroubled.
None of us who have been in a serious car accident ever do.
A small misjudgement on my part saw a girl nearly die.
Thirty years later, all I have to do is close my eyes and I can still see her lying on the road...
It never goes away.
We all do things that come back to haunt us.
We are, after all, only human.
The hardest thing to do is forgive ourselves.
Take care, mate, wherever you are.

Martin has been MIA for several months.
It always pays to take note of the date a post was posted.
Although he seems to be lurking.

This lady claims to have braked but the vehicle took off.
Which would mean she hit the accelerator but this is a modern vehicle and the download of information indicated that neither the brake or accelerator were depressed.
So either she's lying or such an incompetent driver she has no idea what happened.
Looks like she's not going to gaol but I don't think she should ever be allowed to drive
vehicle ecu's do not record nor store such engine information... So it is not downloadable. if a scanner is attached to the vehicle then those readings are available in real time or for an amount of time.
Police forensic investigators can mostly determine whether the brakes are applied at the point of impact because the stop light bulbs are blown.
If the brakes are not applied and there is no current going through the filament (ie it is not glowing red/white hot) then the filament generally remain intact. Sometimes if the engine damage is severe enough and the throttle spindle, accelerator cable or TPS is jammed through impact damage they can determine an approximate impact throttle position...
. not that I know of anyways....
I read the OP's link and some others regarding the accident and none that i could find mentions downloaded information.
ECU's do need to "learn" some processes sometimes and will "remember" those processes.
Race cars through a bluetooth/satellite link are a different kettle of fish but that information is recorded an an external hard drive

I learnt to drive with a manual transmission car so I can drive both auto and stick
Yeah, I would imagine the same would apply to all states
