Do you agree......???
JACQUI Lambie wants those in Australia who support sharia law to “pack up their bags and get out of here”.
The Palmer United Party Senator is also calling for them to be kicked off government benefits and not be allowed to vote in this country.
The outspoken Tasmanian, whose recent comments about the threat of a Chinese communist invasion caused a stir, this morning turned her sights on sharia law supporters.
“Anybody that supports Sharia law in Australia should not have the right to vote, should not be given government handouts and should probably pack up their bags and get out of here,” she told reporters in Hobart.
“Anybody supporting or calling for sharia law in Australia can get out. Simple as that.”
Earlier on radio 3AW Senator Lambie praised the Coalition for raising the country’s terror alert level to high — a move she said should have probably happened months ago.
But she warned she was more worried about veterans being “pushed back into the war zone” without adequate help when they returned, while “supporters of sharia law are allowed access to government benefits”.
“We are giving government benefits to those under sharia law … and I simply believe that those supporters who support sharia law should not have the right to vote with their allegiance to a foreign power.”
Senator Lambie said sharia law was “an underlying problem” in Australia.
“Unless we put our foot down on it now it’s only going to become bigger and more dangerous well into the future.”
The former veteran has previously called for a Royal Commission into the Defence Force and the Department of Veterans Affairs.

@lightningdance wrote:I wonder, if living under the repressive and cruel sharia law then why did thousands of muslims come here to live? im pretty sure muslim women do not want to be ruled by that law.
So how many Muslims living in Australia do you believe wish to live under Sharia Law?
Which of the four interpretations of sharia Law do they wish to live under?
Are all four interpretations of Sharia Law equally repressive?

I really do believe you need to take the time learn the distinction between a “law” and a “code” Hint one allows voluntary compliance, whereas in the other compliance is mandated.
Sharia is a code, but only as long as compliance remains voluntary. Sharia becomes “law” when compliance is legally enforceable.
Now, as I have repeatedly said in this and other post, the vast majority Muslims prefer the former - voluntary observance. However within that group, there is a small sub-group who believe, when it comes to Muslims, obedience is mandatory, with Julia’s post being a good example of such and attempt.
That is had that attempt succeeded, then the laws which currently apply to everyone irrespective of religion, would have been modified so ones rights would have been determined on the basis of their religion.

if lambie is talking about those who are calling
for religious law to be mainstream - does it matter
which type they are calling for?
look at the criticism and hate our PM is copping
for being religious. you only have to read this
forum.

The PM is not copping criticism for being religious. It's his hypocrisy and his attempts to force his religion onto others that is the cause of complaint.

not a policy, but his comments about what other people should do, though obviously not applicable to his own behaviour
that one did upset me because with his past, who is he to tell people how they should live their lives

If you then look at all the religions in the world.
http://www.religioustolerance.org/worldrel.htm
IMHO,religions are just a believe that changes and adapts to whatever their leaders want/believe should
happen.
All religions didn't start with the massive volumes of text that are in place now but basically word of mouth.
If you then take "Chinese whispers" into account anything is possible,(hence why today's texts and "decrees"
are far different from the originals).

exactly! its not even a policy and omg
the outrage! i can see why some ppl would
be jumping up and down at the prospect of having
much stricter religious rules imposed on them or
the fact that some groups would demand them.
abbott's attitude is a good example of what many ppl
dont want to see in our government. imagine policies
being influenced by much stricter beliefs. !!!

Well of course they still read from the Bible. lol. But do they read the bits where they tell you to kill the enemies of Christ? Be obedient to your husband or you can expect to be beaten into submission? Cover your head when leave the house?
