Surprise! We have an election date :-D

Who would have thought we would get a date this early?

Re: Surprise! We have an election date :-D

Both the AFL and the National Rugby League will be into semi-finals on election day, September 14, and you'd think it's a fair bet quite a lot of the fans won't be awfully impressed at politics interrupting their worship.

.

LOL the residents (flood victims) are disgusted with the PM announcing the election date etc instead of coming to see them.... the residents dislike her so much they probably wouldn't go to any meet and greet with the PM when she does arrive...

They think she should be there visiting, but if she does come they won't go see her? Contradictory much?

Re: Surprise! We have an election date :-D

So we have an election Sept 14th but campaigning wont start until August 12th? Our PM's words this morning:O

A carbon price was always something Ms Gillard wanted (pre election)? But it resulted in a carbon tax....her words.

Stepped around the question asked why her colleagues weren't told of the date prior to her announcement.....the announcement was for ALL Australians:|

I have no party preference at this time...just listening and watching.

Re: Surprise! We have an election date :-D

I can tell you here that people are still flooded out of their homes and they are disgusted that Gillard finds it more important to announce this rather than come and visit us to offer personal support. Word is that she will be visiting tomorrow though... but knowing the dislike of her in this town I doubt there will be much of a meet and greet for the locals..

She been doing the same in fire ravaged areas of NSW and VIC.Maybe she will get up there next ?

What I find rather funny is that she didn't even figure to tell her MP's or most of the caucus... apparently it was on a need to know basis and I think that as they are mostly going to be without a job you would think it was a definite need to know the date of your last day in the job...

Have you not seen her out and about, offering support to people affected by floods and fires?

I wonder if she will introduce another flood levy?

You were not impressed about the last one were you?

It would not be a surprise to her News just made that up because it sounds like what they think people think about it.

Actually I had not seen anything since Sunday night... I went to work Saturday morning and shortly after coming home we lost power... I listened to the battery powered radio for days while throwing out food and removing debris from my yard...and being locked into our community... power lines over roads and flooding meant we could not get out.....  my power came back yesterday afternoon.

I used my phone for updates on Facebook where the local radio station and the disaster management, QLD police and SES were giving fantastic updates. Only once did we see a post on the Gillard government page with a token "thought are with you"

BUT people in town that I know that did have power said they saw nothing... and they were cheesed off... the bloke over the road had a generator and had the TV going and he also said he saw nothing....

The flood appeal is not doing as well as last time... people have been posting that they believe there will be another flood levy and will not be donating... that is all I will say on that matter...

She admitted on TV this morning that she is the PM and she decides when to go to an election and did not need to inform her MP's....

yep.. Gillard is coming today.... apparently she touches down at 10:30am... don't know if it is NSW time or QLD time as I heard it on the Today show.

I would not go and see her... the fact is that our region needs massive support in the manner of donations.... I would not want a rant from me to distract from the important needs of my community.

I haven't watched a lot of the coverage but did see her with Newman at one stage.

What do you mean by admitted she was PM and it is her choice. She is and it is.

It is always up to the PM, even if she is a she.

I think it's a good call. I don't particularly care what G Richardson says as he is one of the dinosaurs that is still not ready for or accepting of a female leader. That is obvious every time he opens his mouth about Gillard.
