Can an athiest please tell me why they get upset when someone takes hostages and kills them or when someone like Islamic State beheads children?

I do not understand you .On the one hand you tell me you believe in evolution and survival of the fittest and on the other you get upset when the species does exactly what darwin says it will do.DISCUSS as bob would say.

I have read Origin of The Species - it only deals with evolution in terms of adaptation to enviroment - didn't he breed pigeons and examine the various generations for changes?

As far as I can remember, it doesn't deal with life from nothing (abiogenesis) though.

You don't really have any understanding of what evolution actually means do you? Your argument makes as much sense as if I were to say, "Well God must have known when he created those people that that was how they were going to behave, so these events must be a part of his plan and the perpetrators must be doing his will.'

Read it or studied it?You see the other poster (the dog gone back to its vomit)claimed to be an ex minister.He also claimed to be "way up there with the Bible" but in reality he knew little.You need to study it in depth in Hebrew and Greek to really see what it says.

Ok, well I get upset when some religiously-deluded lunatic inflicts  horror on other people who, quite sanely in my opinion, refuse to share in that delusion.

Please understand that the theory of evolution relates on a species level and not on the level of the individual.

We, as a species are just as doomed as the dodo bird if we continue to tolerate and to support really dangerous mad people in our society who claim that they are acting from some sort of religious imperative.

It's interesting to note that those who claim to be doing god's work while all the time oppressing and destroying His creation, do not in fact, usually  live very long.

So, it's evolution in action. The religiously mad and violent people will eventually die out. I mean to say, they usually even kill each other in preference to killing the rest of us.

 YHWH would not ask me to kill everybody.He has no need to kill everybody and the Scriptures are clear that He wont do that.He will kill billions but not everyone.He is moral in whatever He does.Do you blame the potter if he smashes the pot he made?

If he smashed billions of them I'd say he was either a lousy potter or a bloody idiot.

It is not a cop out. I have read all those books and have also read - and studied - the Bible. I came to the conclusion that Darwin and Dawkins made a lot more sense. I am not going to regurgitate parts of them here when you can easily ead them for yourself and decide which of them to believe.

You may come to the conclusion that Darwin and Dawkins were both wrong - but at least you will understand what it is you are arguing against

Aand incidentally, Dawkins argues that you can demonstrate the truth of evolution without needing to rely on any  fossil evidence..

If you understood the process of evolution you would realise that talking about evidence of a "change in kind" is nonsense. The changes are so minute and so varied  over such a vast time span of time that there could never be  a fossil that was half one thing and half another.

To give an analogy (and note, I said analogy, not example) Imagine your wife has a baby and you takea photo of that baby every single  day for the next 20 years,. From those photos could you pick the day when that baby became a child, an adolescent, an adult? Could you pick the exact day when the subject was half a child and half an adult?
