Why? Well, we need fuel delivered to servos.

Don't hear of it happening TOO often, but admittedly, any are too many. Couple of incidents years ago in SA, one went up while off loading in a servo, that was a very scary time, and one tipped negotiating a new section of road that looked a lot faster than you could take it. Needless to say, both made quite a mess. Driver of the second one was never found, presumed cremated on the spot Smiley Indifferent

Yes, I have an opinion. No you don't have to agree with it. Yes I do have a right to it.

Re: Sydney Petrol Tanker Explosion Kills Two

Hi,as Carl said we need the fuel delivered to servos! However I may be in a position to comment here.I am employed by an independent fuel disributor in Western NSW. & we run road trains,b doubles & a b triple to servos, farms & mines etc. The road delivery of fuel is in fact quite safe if all OH&S & Dangerous Goods protocols are followed to the letter. However our rail cars are mothballed(we have a rail line into one depot) as the Government a couple of years ago decided to put a stop to rail delivery of fuel to our area! This now necessitates aprrox.30 b double trips per week to Sydney & Newcastle to bring back fuel to our country depots. We are are only one of many in a similar situation & yet rail was a safe & reliable option! Go figure!!!

howard took the small business tax incentive to the 2001 election, encouraged the huge increase of movement of petrol and other goods, by road.

rail goods transport died in the bum.   idiot short-sighted councils like newcastle, with the o'ferrell government,  'ave now

decided in their wisdom to stop the rail at wickham, they'll sell off all that land that now takes up the rail corridor into newcastle, to developers, and line their pockets.  there'll be no turnin' back, on that score,  to re-introduce rail as goods transport in the future.

both federal and state governments are now totally obssessed to push more and more highways (and privately-owned payways) through to enable faster road freights.

more traffic, more pollution, more accidents, no winner 'ere.

lived in that house, on that corner for a few years.   samuel street was then a t-intersection at monavale road..   brighteyes flamin' council pushed it straight through to warriewood valley, put in a small roundabout.

introduced a hazard, road problem that didn't previously exist.
