Sydney's New Year's Eve fireworks to go ahead despite total fire ban
https://www.abc.net.au/news/2019-12-30/new-years-eve-sydney-fireworks-at-risk-amid-fire-ban/11832042
i dont see how fireworks on sydney harbour could cause any bushfires but i'm not in know.
however where i llive every new years eve we have people letting off fireworks they shoouldnt, its against the law.
now they certainly could start fires!
i recon letting off fireworks during summer when you know your breaking the law should be a big penalty!
plus pretty much every dog will be much happier!
Foo would hide and shiver for an hour or so every year!

Personally, I think it's wrong. If there's a statewide fireban, it should be respected. Even if there was no risk, there should be a show of respect for those who've lost their livliehoods and properties, and the poor creatures who perished in the conflagration.
But Sydney admin are justifying it by the amount of tourist dollars the event earns.
How shallow.

Yeah, well.

Unfortunately the cost of the fireworks would not come close to what the goverment would spend just on a feasibility study on what to do.
