Am i bit strange to think that if person is doing something for charity or is supposedly volunteering they do it in their own time and at their expense?
Tony Abbott claims to be a friend of Indigenous Australians, regularly spending time in their communities “volunteering”. This is an enormously expensive lie. That is an insult to all the people who really do volunteer and give freely their time.

and all of that is a big part of why volunteering is so highly regarded .

But they should also have the common sense to choose what should be reimbursed without attracting criticism. Going to a Gina or Murdoch wedding would raise eyebrows. So would using your entitlements to consort with shock jocks.
But I'm Ok with sporting events or any other neutral event.
Does anyone know why he didn't present the award to the Roosters on Sunday. I heard Acting PM Truss did. Anyone got the facts?

I don't know Freaki, I just searched for that and ended up reading about our PM 'sex appeal' comment being nominated for an Ernie Award .

Yes, what I read implied it was sour grapes as he was there on the day. I don't get how or why Truss would be called acting PM when they were both present.

That whole excuse speil was just an insult to Rob Oakeshott and the Port Macquarie people. Abbott said they didn't get to see a real pollie for years and that he basically spent time there because it was effectively a marginal seat. He didn't go just for the sport 😄
The more he said the more dodgy and offensive he sounded.

It is an insult to genuine community volunteers such as myself and so many thousands of others out there volunteering their time and skills and wearing the costs.
The arrogance of the man is appalling.
