TDU 7sevens coverage pathetic!

the TDU Tour Down Under is under way and channel 7 has given the dumbest tv coverage ever!

the race has started!

we dont get to see the start!

we get endless vision of people standing around pre race with little interviews.

then we get vision of 4 people sitting at a desk yabbering on about what they think.

all while the race is going on with no vision!

finally we go live, but nobody actually says where the heck they are, just vision of cyclists riding along.

within 2 minutes we leave for a 'break'

when we return its more talking by various people with no vision of the race!

my interest today is/was because before moving to wallyworld we lived in 'one tree hill' where the race was going through the town. so i know quite a lot of the race track really well. i have not been back there in over 8 years so was keen to see it again.

as i know the roads i figured out they were not far from my old town so waited and waited. ok, not far now,

COMERCIAL BREAK!!!!!

oh, we are back and now we have passed One Tree Hill!

you have got to be kidding me!

Frustrating, David.

Interesting, some of the names of towns, roads, etc., isn't it?

One Tree Hill, Humbug Scrub, ...... and the Throttle Shed for coffee.

One little bit of Wiki knowledge ......There is no specific provision for bicycles on any of the local roads. Smiley Wink

Re: TDU 7sevens coverage pathetic!

i dont know 'the throttle shed'

there is a CFS shed in the town.

the name 'one tree hill' is just made up as there never was just 1 tree.

humbug scrub was a great name for an area of, well, scrub.

i travelled those roads so many times in 30 years.

still rember clearly that first time when my dad and me were out driving around looking for some land to buy, middle of winter, raining and foggy, drove through one tree hill, then down a long meandering dirt road to a dead end and discovered our little piece of paradise. 4 acres of trees, creek and grassland.

my little sister was mad keen on horses so mum and dad sold up our city home and we moved to one tree hill.

so started 30 years of doing country stuff, cows, sheep, horses, tractors.

i wish i could go back and do it all again.

still, the sea sides ok too.
