i would like to think so, at least thats the way it was when i was young (about 20 years ago lol). I think when i left school in 1989 it was one of the highest unemployment times so there were more of my friends who didn't get jobs straight away, including me lol. But i guess nowdays theres more of a class divide, the rich get richer the poor get the picture <yes i stole the lines from Midnight Oil. Anyway the class divide succesfully reared its ugly head mostly thanks to John Howards govt & will only get worse under Abbott. ๐

People will be forced to resort to stealing in order to survive.
Most likely, steal food, do muggings/bag snatchings.

But just think of the increased job opportunities which will open in the police force.

Yep that and all the new prisons they will build to house desperate people. Stupid policies we are following in America's footsteps and soon we will have all of their social problems right here in our back yard.

lol at just_saying_things, but on a more serious note, yes the jail system in the US is terrible, there has been a surge of inmates since they privatized the prison system, so crime does pay, for the industries that make their money building prisons!

I'm a bit in shock really. I don't even know where to start. I just got home from work and found a post on another forum. $2 million has been taken from the Royal Commission into Child Abuse. Devasting. Let alone all the other cuts to essential services, families, the young, the old, the sick. I'm just gobsmacked. This would be because it was set up during labour. Yet they've put aside $250million for their own Royal Commissions. There are no words to even describe how I feel.

i did not even think about that one yet, ashamed to say, i was too busy thinking about how the budget will affect me & family & friends. That is so horrible, as if abused kids haven't had it tough enough, now they get even less opportunity to be cared for. It makes me sick how Abbott was sitting there in the background of Jo's speech looking so smug & pleased with himself about it all when people are going to suffer even more if this budget gets through.

Shows you this gov. has no feeling................and to take money from the Royal Commission into Child Abuse, is the lowest of the low.....

Watch the unemployment figures drop, no more freebie hols
Is the Abbott Government going to claim that those not receiving any money to live on and/or working for the dole are employed?
