An interesting read and if you look at all the schemes that have been created over the last 6 years... omg.. I had no idea... so many need to be removed and that will save us a lot of money.

This is more to do with honouring the IPA wish list than anything else. How many of those promises to the IPA have been ticked off now?
Rupes and friends must have been paid in full now.

The health system is in need of change. It can't be sustained. Something needs to give.
yes something needs to give, stop private health rip offs, all the money go into 1 health system, that being a public one and raise taxes. People pay into private health and still often get massive bills, what a joke. Private hospitals built next door to public ones, same Surgeons etc, different price. I don't know anybody that wouldn't prefer to pay more tax for our public health system.

My youngest son (18) just moved. He has been looking for work here while suffering depression. He was told by Centrelink at his new location that he must reapply...this last week.I think he has to come back home though his study and work opportunities are better where he is.
I will call him soon to make sure he is OK....

The maximum waiting period is six months in duration and the minimum is one month. The maximum waiting period can be reduced by one month for each year the young person has been in full-time paid employment until the one month minimum waiting period is reached. Part-time and casual employment would be pro-rated accordingly. Job seekers will be required to provide evidence of their previous paid work to allow the department to determine the duration of the initial working period.
Quite a lot of information there re the changes and how/who they'll affect.

mmmmm.....not really saving us a lot of money though, unemployment is rising, the economy is soft and consumer confidence is low, this budget will cause the economy to contract, which will hurt everyone.
But the budget-night surprise was that much of the cash raised from cuts to benefits and tax rises is spent on the Coalitionโs own priorities rather than on improving the budget bottom line, including a new $20bn medical research fund โ to become the biggest in the world within six years โ the Direct Action greenhouse emissions reduction fund and about $5bn in new roads funding.

I'm asking, not arguing, do you think people in employment will have sympathy for those in the same age bracket who aren't? Sometimes it seems there is an attitude that you are employed solely through merit so to be unemployed you must be useless. ๐
EM anyone who lives in Vic will know someone unemployed.. The unemployment rate here is the highest in the country, there are very few jobs for the young, the old and the inbetween.
but yeah, I can see a sort of of a stigma developing over time and what it will do to people's confidence when they can't find work. Very demoralizing
