I missed the bit about school chaplains. Obviously I'm naive, but I would have thought chaplain's wages were a church responsibility?

They will create work schemes? Demeaning type work maybe... weeding parks, removing graffiti from public places etc
Apparently they should go to university to earn themselves a degree that will cost them a deregulated $500,000 and then they can spend the rest of their lives paying it off.

No, not school chaplains positions.. would be Education Dept responsiblity. Just like hospitals have Chaplains positions, they are paid by the Health service.

at 6% interest
@There will be more grads heading to live overseas, never to return, to get away from paying their huge student loans with 6% interest back. ( $60 000 HELP Debt @ 6% p.a. interest.. shudder).
I saw a job ad for an Intermediate Accountant the other day $40 000 salary.. very low.

Here is a C&P just for you LT
As Parliament is yet to pass the legislation to end the Schoolkids Bonus, the January 2014 instalment has now been paid to eligible families and students. Payment of future instalments of the Schoolkids Bonus, including for July 2014, will depend on when the legislation is passed by Parliament. If you claim Family Tax Benefit as a lump sum at the end of the financial year, you will be paid the Schoolkids Bonus, if you’re eligible, after we assess your claim and after your income has been confirmed.

I am pretty sure Australians are still entitled to Govt benefits in NZ if they live there (not vice versa though) Perhaps all those out of work with no eligibility for a Govt benefit in Australia can go and live there for 6mths??
Be very telling of the Aust LNP Govt if they were forced to do that.
