any time delay is too long. Businesses are to be given a cash incentive to hire over 50's, yet young people are going to be punished because there is high unemployment.

That sounds about right... haven't seen any announcements to say different, and it would be on the Centrelink sight if it had gone through.

Hire over 50's that are on the dole ($10 000 paid to employer). Lots of over 50's looking for work that aren't on the dole also.

6mths is too long for a person who loses their job by no fault of their own. Those who get a job and work 1 day and quit because they don't like it is different.

Watch the unemployment figures drop, no more freebie hols

I know that you believe you understand what you think I said, but I'm not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.

The government will also cut hospital funding to the states and territories. Billions slashed from hospitals.

That is a low act.

this one struck me too

how are the states going to fund the schools and hospitals??  A rise in GST?

those of us who live in Vic wil know that we've had a series of increases in taxes and fees for most things here over the past 12 months, ranging from parking fees and fines to car registration & stamp duty on car purchases

and the cuts under the science heading, no matter what your political position is, I can't understand why? Same as privatising the mint?

Six month no income, not even for the basics to survive?

How is a person going to pay rent, buy some food and pay for traveling to look for jobs? Not everyone has a family or parents they can fall back on for help.

Genocide, is all I can think about. If you want people to kill themselves, or die of starvation and exposure to sleeping on the streets,  just take everything away from them for six month. That will lower the unemployment percentage very quick.

Something is going to happen, something nobody expected, and it is not going to be a Rudd - Gillard - Rudd backstabbing scenario. I have a bad feeling about the outcome of this Budget.
