Tasmanians revolt against the greens

Tasmania is broke and a basket case and being supported by main land Australia all thanks to the greens killing jobs and industries. The Tasmanian people have been waiting in poverty  and unemployment for 20 years now for the Bob Browns green job revolution  that has never come. Just hollow promises from the greens

THOUSANDS at a pro-mining rally have had enough - they are fed up with their futures being held to ransom by the environmental movement.

They vowed to campaign harder and louder to secure vital mining projects, create jobs and guarantee a secure future.

In one voice, 3000 people at the Smithton rally shouted "unlock Tasmania" and told the environmental movement they would no longer be allowed to hold the state hostage.

"The silent majority is now rumbling, especially in resource-rich areas outside Hobart," Dorset Mayor Barry Jarvis told the crowd.

Deputy Premier Bryan Green, who has relied on the votes of mining and forestry workers, was booed and heckled as he tried to speak to the Smithton rally.

Mr Green was told in no uncertain terms his decision to support the naming of the North-West "the Tarkine" was unpopular.

Yesterday's rally follows one in Tullah last month that attracted 2000 people and one in Burnie last year that drew a crowd of 3000.

A convoy of trucks, cranes and other machinery ringed the Smithton Recreation Ground in a show of support for mining and other resource industries. Anti-green sentiment was again palpable.

"Investors need to know if they abide by the laws they will be supported," Tasmanian Minerals Council chairman Wayne Bould told the rally.

Mr Bould said the state could not allow itself to be browbeaten by environmentalists.

The mining industry has been frustrated by court action taken by Save the Tarkine to stop work at Shree Minerals' iron ore project near Temma and to appeal the local and State Government approval given to Venture Minerals' Riley project at Tullah.

Heather Woodward, from the Circular Head Progress Group, said news that Shree Minerals' project had been approved had buoyed a region hit hard by the downturn in the forest industry: "We have to take the power away from these unelected minority groups. We need to stand united".

Mr Green said the Government was spending "every waking moment" working to get the new mines built.

"There has been a lot said about my decision to support the bid to rename the Tarkine," Mr Green said. "But it is just a place, just a name."

Drilling contractor Steve Poke said Tasmanian businesses were being "fed to the wolves" and strangled by red and green tape.

"The perception out there is that Tasmania is being governed by greenies," Mr Poke said.

"Enough is enough."

New mining ventures were supported by almost 88 per cent of those who responded to the Mercury's Great Tassie Survey.

Actually it's not all pristine. Not all pretty and they dump chemicals on things that have been banned everywhere else. The wildlife is considered a pest, the men with big machines like to threaten those who disagree with them and they hate tourists with a vengeance..... in some areas.   :^O:^O:^O

Even where they claim to love tourists they make it hard for them to get a decent coffee or food after 6pm.
