My kids attend Govt High School, they are aged 13 and 15. During English and Humanities subejcts, several staff have written on the white board "Liberals are racist" and "Abbot is Evil" just to name a few. Im happy for kids to be taught about the Australian Political system but dont be sending kids subliminal messages about your political stance please teachers. Have taken this up with the School and will go to Education Dept if no satisfactory resolution is found. The office of Prime Minister Ship should be treated with respect, regardless of who you vote for. Kids should not be brainwashed by Educationers which we all know are primarily Labour Voters.

Back in the 60's my history teacher told the class that we would all be better off in Russia, and other things on the same subject. I lost all respect for her, and decided she was a moron. Nowadays I would ask her when she was purchasing her ticket. 🙂

Maybe the comments written on the board were related to the humanities subject matter, e.g. "Liberals are racist - discuss" or "All Green voters are namby-pamby pacifist tree-huggers who don't wash - discuss". Maybe it's a discussion about stereotypes and critically examining how stereotypes are formed and how to think about them.

Are you sure it wasn't students who wrote the comments?
I'd be more concerned that they can't spell the PM's name.
Btw, The Australian PM is Prime Minister Abbott not Prime Minister Ship.

Wont be posting on here again. Dont appreciate being made to feel like a liar. happy lives people...continue to live with your heads in the sand
I have two children that completed most of their high school education in Australia (some public, some at private).
I/we never encountered any of the above you allege.
Two different teachers at two different year levels wrote pretty much the same thing on the whiteboard in each of your child's class?
If it was different things written then you should be able to tell us which teacher wrote which phrase.
What was the subject being taught at the time in each class?
What was the context of the lesson when the teacher wrote those things.. was he/she discussing poor journalism standards/biased journalism?

No, I am not perfect, neither are the teachers of your children, neither was your English teacher.
People have reacted the way that they did because the story was implausable. Some of us here have teachers in our families, and know that the behaviour you outlined is not possible.
Do you go to doctors? Because most of them belong to one of the most powerful unions in the country. So their actions are biased also.

A warning to readers; some of the contents is extremely offensive, and contains references to a serious sexual assault.
Those words are absolutely sickening. Has this man been reinstated yet? Is he still being paid?

It's Labor. No 'u'.
And it's Abbott. An extra 'b'.

I think he is still suspended. Whether on pay or not, it hasn't been mentioned.
Oct 17
The university released a statement on Friday saying he was suspended, effective immediately, "from teaching and engaging in any other University business and is precluded from attending any University campus, while the matter is investigated".

This person was the "English" adviser to the curriculum review pair.
Why a poetry professor was considered to be the best person to review the school english curriculum is a mystery when there are plenty of people more appropriately qualified who could have been chosen.

Didn't the education unions promote the greens at the last election? or was that just tertiary?
