While, as far as I am concerned, there is an obvious distinction between social media and social networking, I can appreciate that it can be confusing to many people. I believe the photos in question appeared on social networking sites. Not social media.
i'd like to understand the difference, because i don't find that explaination very clear
Social Media is the platform and social networking is the act of using them to share information.
Twitter, facebook, pinterest, reddit, blogs are all described as social media sites.
They're intrinsically linked, imo.

Social media as well as social networking only reflects the attitudes of those who use them and bears no resemblance to the rest of society.
Even though they are a part of society they are only a small percentage of the whole

They're a means of communication for whatever purpose people use them for at the time.
They're used for a vast array of purposes by large sections of society, as an extension of tradional forms of communications.
What are you talking about with your "bears no resemblance to society" comment? It makes no sense.

Perhaps you might like to consider quoting me correctly if you feel that you need to quote me at all
What I said was " bears no resemblance to the rest of society." 🙂

It's a shame he doesn't take his full time job more seriously and leave the fires to others while he is PM.
Piers Akerman Thursday, August 19, 2010 (10:38pm)........
The brigade at Davidson showed their high opinion of Abbott’s service by electing him deputy fire captain, a position he regretfully resigned in April as the pressures of his responsibilities as Opposition Leader mounted.
