He's been volunteering for quite some time and I hear these are the worst bushires in decades, wouldnt they need EVERY volunteer they could get their hands on? I'm kind of astounded people have a problem with anybody fighting a fire, I'm not brave enough to do it, I'd never dream of putting down someone who was just because I didnt like their politics.
its his job to give government support, not cut it as he has and replace it with pictures of himself with a sooty face. regardless of which party he represents.

OR experienced being in a bushfire themselves
OR been actively involved in the subsequent demolition and clean-up after the fires have been extinguished.
Perhaps their attitudes might be different!
Thank you to ALL the volunteers.
thankyou. i didn't have twitter then, so maybe i'm jealous.

To the posters who have passed negative comments about Tony Abbott with regard to firefighting.
Your comments reflect on any one who has had the decency to lend a hand and put themselves at risk to help others less fortunate

he's been paid so far for everything he did for the less fortunate. aboriginal missions, charity rides.. all he did it for himself. it should come as no surprise that people are cynical of his motives

@***super_nova*** wrote:Yep!...a 'stunt" COMMENT: I'm going to try to convince readers that Abbott's appearance at the NSW fires was no more than a stage-managed event and there has been a lot of BS proffered as to what happened. You see, when a person becomes a PM, his/her world changes and it's all got to do with security and ASIO and the Federal Police are in charge. The PM has to go along with the security protocol, no questions asked. I have had extensive discussions with a long term person in ASIO and he put it.."You don't drive. You don't go to the shops. You don't call tradesmen ... If you want to go watch your kid play football the (Australian Federal Police) have to sweep the oval. It's a massive change."......Abbott did not just waltz up to the fires and do a shift. He turned up, security detail in place, had some photos taken, talked to some people, had some more photos taken...and that was it. Now we are immensely thankful and proud of the RFS volunteers.....but we need to call a 'spade a spade' in exposing Abbott, once again, as the well seasoned 'stuntman' in action....and anyone who believes otherwise needs to replace their suppository.
I think I'd rather listen to what Trent Dowling had to say regarding this than whoever posted that comment ^^^ on Facebook.
Whose comment is that?
Whose comment was that? Was that yours? It contradicts what I have read which is basically the AFP offering advice of the kind of fire situations the PM should avoid and hoping that he takes that advice.
