And if he hadnt helped when needed? He's been volunteering for quite some time and I hear these are the worst bushires in decades, wouldnt they need EVERY volunteer they could get their hands on? I'm kind of astounded people have a problem with anybody fighting a fire, I'm not brave enough to do it, I'd never dream of putting down someone who was just because I didnt like their politics.

I cannot help wondering how many contributors to this thread have ever actively volunteered with the RFS
OR experienced being in a bushfire themselves
OR been actively involved in the subsequent demolition and clean-up after the fires have been extinguished.
Perhaps their attitudes might be different!
Thank you to ALL the volunteers.

I am wondering why the other thread was quickly locked by a mod whereas this one is allowed to continue?

Yes, I have had experience with bushfires and had experience with preventative fuel reduction programs in the past.
I've also had experience with evacuations during fires in the past.
And I think any pollie should take time out from fire fighting duties while serving as PM.
Just curious, does anyone know what concenious means?

I would hate to leave you in any doubt!
I can confidently and honestly answer YES to all those questions - both in NSW and here in WA.
Have you?

During the Beaconsfield mine collapse in 2006, Shorten, who has no engineering or mining expertise flew down to Tasmania , because:
"The mine rescue operations drew mass national media coverage, and raised Shorten's political profile" . In 2007 he was elected to the "Reps"
You were saying LL?
it was Shortens job to be there. they were his members. you were saying this is the same john ? at beaconsfield the media sought shorten out and made him the centre of it all (seeing as the real story was buried rather deep at the time)
in this case Abbott staffers and hangers on took pics to release through twitter . promotional work by credlin. shorten didn't have PR people in the days of beaconsfield. so its quite different.
