LOL, twinks, there are a few that are not so close. We are 120Km from you, but we would still be there if there is a meet.
Alyceanne is 13Km to the east from us, and Jaimi another 42Km further east. Last time we picked up Jaimi, this time we are bringing Alyceanne, as well as Jaimi if she is well enough and wants to come.
Regarding Campervans v. Caravans and long distance travel. We have had three caravans. Medium size and a small one. (Peter loves getting an older van and restoring it.) With all the travelling we have done, we came to the conclusion that we don't need a van.
Our Station Wagon is roomy enough to take what we need on clothes, food and bedding. Each Caravan Park has on-site vans and cabins for rent. Cost is between $45.- to $80.- per night, depending on season and region.
Towing a van costs more on petrol, and wear and tear on the car. Stress for the driver, especially in heavy traffic. We decided it's not worth the few extra dollars we could save.
Unless we would want to cross the Nullabour or hike up to Darvin, we still travel in comfort whenever we can.
