i think since the 'live baiting' scandal and the massive publicity of whats been going on in the racing industry, greyhounds have been 'discoverred' as a dog with every thing you want in a loving pet dog with almost none of the bad stuff.

so they have now gained a popularity as a great dog, plus they are purebred and dont cost an arm and a leg.

the going rate here in south australia is $150 including full vet checks, micro chip, vaxinations, a winter jacket, collar and lead and a starter pack (food and instructions)

a lot of videos talk about having a 'crate' for them but FOO never had one, he just went straight onto a nice big soft dog bed from day one.

now he has 2, one in the lounge and one next to my bed. where i am he is.

and a bloomin garantee if it doesnt work out you can return the dog!

as FOO ages (hes 11 going on 12 now) i fear a long wait for another greytmate when hes not with me anymore. as getting a greyhound who is fine with cats isnt as easy as one without that ability.

ive watched videos where GAP are adopting out as many as 20 dogs in a day at their adoption days!

There he is now while i'm writing this,

very sad these lovely dogs are used and abused in an industry turning over muliti millions of dollars but they are mostly abandoned once they cant race.

im glad the australian bodys are now forced to admit to the problem and at least try to reduce the deaths.

they will never be able to retrain and rehome all the no longer required dogs.

even one healthy greyhound being put down just because they cant race is one too many.
