"This is for the Senior members of CS, those born before 1947. Baby Boomers and Generations X & Y are welcome providing you are over 18 ๐
But this is definitely for people who are facing the last long haul. We have survived babyhood, childhood, being teens and twenties... We have learned to read and write, to drive, have probably been married and the women have survived child birth.
The challenges are constant and the near misses of death are also there. If we have become a senior we have learned to survive so much, and along the way we have, of course, gathered a great deal of knowledge about life.
The belief that age diminishes us is not true, it changes us and not all of it is bad. Yes there can be various forms of dementia for some, but that is also a disease that can happen in younger people. Alzheimer's can also occur - it is another form of dementia and generally occurs in people over 65, although that can occur much earlier too and not everyone is going to get it.
Most of us keep our mental alertness up to the moment of death, even if we lose our hearing and our eyesight, but of course this can happen at any age too.
What changes is our physical strength, which diminishes but our mental strength and patience grows, it has to of course, to deal with this aging thing.
Arthritis, heart trouble, strokes - all these things associated with age can happen at any time in your life - arthritis can happen when you are a child but they don't like giving out new hips and knees until you are in your 50s and 60s or later. We can talk about that too.
Cancer can happen any time and that is also something we can discuss here if you like.
The point of this thread is to give the Seniors a chance to talk about how they are coping with age, the challenges it presents and the fears that can come with it... loss of hearing or sight, aging spouses, living alone, retirement villages, even death...
So I will ask that the Juniors treat us in kindly fashion and remember, all this is going to happen to you too - providing you avoid death before you get here ๐
So, onward and upward. Let's go...."

Hi y'all. I just arrived home from a brilliant art exhibition. A great afternoon. My wee doggies are sulking. I deserted them and it is dark and they are hungry.

I found this while I was cleaning up so I thought I would share.
When you are old.
1. Everything hurts.
2. And what doesn't hurt doesn't work.
3. The gleam in your eye is just the sunlight hitting your bifocals.
4. All your children begin to look middle-aged.
5. Don't kid yourself - you turn out the light for economy , not romance.
6. You sit in a rocking chair and can't get it to go.
7. Your back goes out more than you do.
8. Your house is too big and your medicine chest isn't big enough.
9. You sink your teeth into a steak and they stay there.
10. Your birthday cake collapses under the weight of the candles.

Water water everywhere and not a drop to drink!
That is, not out of the tap.....our pump from the tank to the house supply carked it on Saturday
Luckily it's been raining all weekend and we've had water coming off the gutter into a bucket...we bought 2 bottles for drinking purposes.
Today I found a "Pump Doctor" who makes out of hours calls for no extra. he's due here in about half an hour...
yippee....washup, washing, and showers....
Why do these things happen on weekends??

I lost Friday ๐ฎ I planned to take my poodle up to the vet on Friday at 11am and had it all worked out. I would do the shopping after and then have the afternoon at home in the garden.
I happily worked in the garden on Thursday planning all this and it wasn't until 8.30 that evening that I was rudely woken up to the fact that Friday was almost over :_|
I had to ring the vet the next morning and take Gem up for her injection on the Saturday.. it has taken me another day or so to catch up...
Gosh I got a fright... losing a whole day and not knowing it.
How is everyone? I have been sort of lost lately and haven't been here, but I'm here now...
Will go and read everyone's posts xx
