An estimated additional 180 - 195 deaths per day occurring at home in New York City due to COVID-19 are not being counted in the official figures.

"Early on in this crisis we were able to swab people who died at home, and thus got a coronavirus reading.

But those days are long gone.

We simply don't have the testing capacity for the large numbers dying at home.

Now only those few who had a test confirmation *before* dying are marked as victims of coronavirus on their death certificate.

This almost certainly means we are undercounting the total number of victims of this pandemic," said Mark Levine, Chair of New York City Council health committee

A study by disease modelers at the University of Texas at Austin states that "Given the low testing rates throughout the country, we assume that 1 in 10 cases are tested and reported.

If a county has detected only 1 case of COVID-19, there is a 51% chance that there is already a growing outbreak underway"

Every US state except Wyoming has recorded at least one death from Coronavirus

"No data is to be trusted in this moment".

Well we have no reliable data from Russia or North Korea. The last I saw Russia had very low numbers and North Korea had none. Personally, I don't trust that data. But I also do not trust China or the US. Political games are being played and there is a lot to be lost or gained.

It is indeed very sad to hear that so many people, worldwide, has fallen victims to this CODVID-19. The real issue is, at the end, who or rather, which country is going to compensate the families for all this calamity and how. China has written off loans given to some countries in African. Why? Anyone's guess, without being political.

Why?  Because that is what China does.  They have been giving help to many poor nations around the world for sometime.  They have huge investments in all sort of places, and they want to keep these countries from going broke.

While the data is unreliable the western world is not looking good. But China had the lowest number of new cases by far, a low number of active cases and a very low number of serious/critical cases. But the data is ?

No data is to be trusted in this moment; not necessarily because anybody is trying to mislead, but because, as go-taz said, nobody knows the real numbers.  If person suffering from the virus has a heart attack or stroke in NY in this moment and in Wuhan in February, it is possible that there was no bed for them in the hospital, and they died with death being listed as something else than COVID19. .. The overworked medics also care more about their still living patients than the stats.  And America has shortage of tests, shortage of respirators, soon they will be short of medics and so they are going to go to church on Sunday............

The Chinese just lifted all restrictions in Wuhan; I do not believe they would have done it if they did not feel it is safe to do so.  Are they right?  Who knows?  Nobody knows how will all this pan out.

American Prez will most likely declare a national emergency and focus industry on providing needed equiptment for medical demands regardless of profit considerations , with appointments of Govt ( military) shadow management like in WW2

China's allocation of resources i suspect is based upon a worthiness system , so most likey card waving party members had treatment priority - to what extent ?

With the coming springtime they will hopefully bounce back

Keep up - Trump declared a National Emergency on March 13th.

Not with the powers I know will be needed

It is political as it's to gain "respect" and gain control as that's all China is mainly interested in.

They've loaned money to other countries that only benefited China and put those countries in question in to

debt that they can't afford to pay back so China gives them "options" or use it as giving money for a greater

return in economic benefits.

They also help China with the voting in the United Nations and stops Taiwan having a vote and a whole lot more.

Very true. But China has spies in many countries, they steal secrets from other governments and make threats towards those countries that try to expose them, including Australia. They are a super power who have risen to the top because they will resort to unscrupulous measures to strengthen their power. That does not add up to a Government with a character that I would describe as trustworthy. But that is just my opinion.

Americans of non-european/latin/asian/indo ancestry seem very prone to succumbing , which is strange as those still native of the old country  are experiencing very high recovery rates and low cases ( reported)
