Does anyone know whether frozen food exports have been re-established to China yet ?
I recall their pig industry got decimated by swine flu last year - and i imagine has not recovered yet
Just wondering as I know how fond they are of pork and after the current calamity must be really missing a favourite meal
Seems would be a good export for us to re-establish - maybe additionally even in microwave meal form

Sorry the Danes beat the Aussies to it.
Danish Crown already exports large volumes of pork to China for use by processors and has seen exports rise by about 20% already this year to 240,000 tonnes. That looks set to rise further, with analysts at Dutch bank Rabobank predicting a 25% fall in China's pork output in 2019 alone.

The African Swine Fever that wiped out around half of China's pig population is still causing major disruption to international protien markets. It has now spread outside of China and is causing problems in other nations.
China has tried to replace the lost pork production with other cheaper protien sources, particularly chicken and lower value beef and this is having flow on effects and causing increased prices for all meat products worldwide, including in Australia. The issue for Australian meat producers selling to China is disruptions to international freight caused by COVID 19 with chilled shipping containers etc. unreliable.
The Chinese industries are returning to work and there has been some sales of Australian raw materials and meat products to China resuming in the last couple of weeks, but prices and contracts are unstable, volitile, disrupted and unreliable.
Coupled with the drought last year reducing supplies, restocking pressure from Eastern states graziers who have had recent rains, panic selling of livestock in recent weeks in response to the Corona virus and fertility problems caused by the extreme heat waves experienced during Summer, the potential for domestic meat prices to reach extreme levels in Winter looks highly likely.

We do not have Chinese certified pig processing facilities as yet

I,m not sure about Chinese certified pig processing facilities, but we export signifigant amounts of beef and lamb to China. If pork is off the Chinese menu, they will substitute with other protien sources. China is such a large player in the International protien market that when they sneeze the rest of the world catches cold...............

Don't know, but I did note an international story on the ABC news that a Tiger in a zoo somewhere had been diagnosed with carrying the virus. Maybe fake news, but I might think twice before consuming that ancient Chinese Tiger aphrodisiac that I was going to use tonight.
