Bit of an emergency today, I couldn't see my regular GP for another 3 weeks, pretty normal here, so I went to the new Federal Govt Super Clinic just opened. Doc took my blood pressure, and then again and asked if I had high blood pressure. I said yes and asked why, I was told that it was 200/100 and when I told the doc that it usually hovered over that she called in another doc who went through the same routine with the same result, lots of consulting and tablets and stuff to bring it down quickly. It was only when I got home that I realised that no one had sorted out the problem that I went there for. Now I have to go back to sort out the initial problem. I can't win.

what was the original problem (if it's not too personal)?

Whatever the orig problem was, I bet it pales into insignificance when compared to a BP of 200/100.

I have had bronchitis for several weeks and couldn't clear it. As I am booked in for a cataract surgery on Tuesday, I thought that I should sort out the coughing. Anyway both docs have banned me from Tuesdays surgery and one of them rang the eye doc and cancelled until the BP is under control. So I guess it is back to the bottom of the waiting list. My BP always goes up when I am under stress of any sort.

Cataract surgery does not require having a general anaesthetic. I suspect that the doctors might worry about an uncontolled fit of coughing during the delicate eye surgery, which could cause them, and thus you, problems.
I think the docs have rightly put your elective surgery on the back-burner for a time while they address the more serious problem of your hypertension.
