Some of my 'hapless idiot'; friends have oodles and they are delightful, clever, fun-loving dogs.  perfect for a family.  I don't see in the article mention of a hybrid and who cares.  

I do wonder at the popularity of the Frenchies and the cost ......  ( doubt one could be bought for under $7,000) as though they are adorable little munchkins they often come with so many health problems.

Good on 'em, wouldnt own one myself, much prefer a pure bred dog, I like to know their breeding etc

Great story and I am so glad it worked out for the blind lady who needed a special guide dog.

There are some really bad puppy farms etc out there, that is true. 

But I also think there have been some dreadful things done in the name of having some 'pure' breeds. Things that have caused massive health problems.

On the whole, nothing wrong with having a mixed breed. Poodles have been mixed with several other breeds and quite a few of the results have been healthy, small to medium sized dogs that are intelligent, don't shed and have good temperaments. They are suited to the smaller house lots a lot of people have these days and that's probably why they are some of the most popular types of dog sold.

It isnt the x'ing of the 2 breeds who aren't usually pure bred anyway, it's the exorbitant prices  these "so called" breeders charge for a mutt

Thankfully the Victorian breeding laws have really tightened up, making it much harder to advertise and sell these dogs

bty brighton the term hybrid refer to the crossing of 2 pure bred dogs of different breeds, which most of these aren't anyway, so what people really end up with is "heinze"

Yes, you are right.

My son & his wife bought a dog. He's an absolutely lovely boy. I forget the exact mix/name.Not labradoodle.

But he did cost about $1400.

I have 2 dogs, both are mixed breed and we got them as pups from animal shelters. I think they were about $300 but came with all the vaccinations, had been speyed, came with food packs and so on. To me, they are just as beautiful.

Yes I know what hybrid means and I agree a lot of dogs are heinzes but I understand a lot of the Oodle breeders are ensuring their dogs are hybrid and have papers to prove it, hence the charges.  Anyway imo nothing wrong with mutts ,   even pure breeds can come with severe health/behavioural probs down the line.
