We have a rather large tank connected to the ' tack room '.
It is empty - the creek is not running - so we carry 80 litres of water - to fill bathtubs for the neddies - twice a day.
Hoping after the little rain we have had - we see some grass - feeding twice a day also.
Tanks are a good idea - but only work if it rains.

I keep 3 1.25 soft drink bottles beside my kitchen sink, it amazing how much tap water goes into them while I am waiting for it to get hot. I then use them to fill the kettle, dog water bowls and water the house plants/front verandah pot plants.

on abc radio this morning they had their canberra correspondent on talking about various problems the lib/nats are having and he said on the subject of their climate policy which is causing them headaches, 2 weeks before chistmas they called in an advertising guru (some guy who is involved with that tv show 'gruen') supposed to be one of the top advertising guys in australia, to figure out how to sell their carp policy better.
as the correspondent put it, instead of fixing a carp policy find and hire a better spin doctor!
scomo from advertising at it again

I've been keeping our garden alive by schlepping grey water from laundry kitchen and bathroom, in buckets and watering cans.
It's hard bloody work.
is that the extent of your “water recycling system to capture and filter grey water” you think every household should have?
Wouldn’t it be easier to have a dedicated in-ground tank with a pump like these:

It would depend on which floor you lived.
Absolutely. As it happens, I live on the ground floor, and we don't have a lift.
I wouldn't be expecting ppl on the upper floors to lug a bucket and watering can up and down steps several times.
