Sorry to interrupt your no politics idea but I still find the subject important and want to rant...
How dare Gillard make abortion an election issue... There is no way that is acceptable and to even suggest that the Coalition will remove your right to one is scare mongering to the max.
In this modern day time it is incredibly important that we don't use these topics to inflame a false war.
Even if a person in any party did not like the idea of abortion there is no way that they would get the support to make it illegal. Or limit your access to one... or even make you feel bad for having one.
So if Gillard wants to launch a campaign called "Labor Women for Gillard" then fine... but don't pull out the gender card and make something out of nothing..
And personally I find it sexist to have a women's only group calling for women to support Gillard.
I have two sons and I also want their future to be positive and not forgotten but it seems that this PM only want to think of the future of women.

Are you suggesting that to keep healthy we should also have surgery newstart?
How about eating healthy foods exercise and stop over eating?
Follow his lead? No thanks.
I did not say that, did I ??? I said that was his choice and no one has the right to criticize any ones else's choice if it does not effect them.
maybe he is one of those unfortunate people who cannot lose weight without help and this type of drastic surgery, I know of 2 women who had it done because nothing else worked for them and they have lost kilos and looking and feeling better.
I am not overweight so I don't have the problem that some have, I have always been very conscious of my weight and I exercise every day.
How about you, are you the right weight for your age, do you do an hour of exercise every day ? Do you eat healthy food all the time and not overweight ? if you answer all these questions in the affirmative then and only then may you have the right to offer a criticism to others. If you answer in the negative then I suggest you do think of following his lead if nothing else works.

What did you mean by follow his lead and it would save us billions?
How is that good leadership?
Does medicare endorse and cover these expenses?
I've lost count of the stories about people who desperately want the surgery who've been told to go away and lose weight first. Or go away until you have enough dollars.
If it saves lives and health dollars medicare should cover the costs.

That's not the point I was trying to make meep
Surgery is a desperate measure for keeping weight under control.
Joe's lifestyle and metabolism are possibly more at fault than his willpower. Surgery is a last resort, no doctor would do it without an attempt to lose weight being done first.
