In a gift for a Federal Government struggling in the opinion polls, Opposition Leader Tony Abbott has admitted not everything he says is true.
Mr Abbott has told The 7.30 Report he sometimes says things in the heat of the moment that are not absolutely correct, but the public can fully rely on his carefully scripted and considered remarks.
"I know politicians are going to be judged on everything they say, but sometimes in the heat of discussion you go a little bit further than you would if it was an absolutely calm, considered, prepared, scripted remark.
"Which is one of the reasons why the statements that need to be taken absolutely as gospel truth are those carefully prepared, scripted remarks

yes really, that was exactly how they saw each
other - as gifts to one another - both, not just
females. it was really sweet.
I would probably see that as more about commitment. Yes, romantic and sweet.
I see gifts as jewellery, toys, that kind of thing.
Mr Abbott may not and others may not..................

also your idea that he only said what he said because he was being interviewed by Women's Weekly... what are you inferring by that?? that he only says what people want him to hear?
no
what unsubstantiated claims??
this:
He can advise his daughters however he likes in private, but it's not up to him to give moral advice to women in the community especially when he himself received and took advantage of "gifts"
when and where did he do that?

That must mean the words that someone else wrote for him Deb.

quite honestly Julia, that question is not even worthy of a response lol
but I can say that the adopted child turned out not to be his but because he thought it was for some 30 odd years, it is obvious that he had been receiving "gifts"

ah, ok. you dont get the metaphor -
have you ever heard the saying ' everyday
is a gift' for example? when people say that
they dont think of an object.
the 'gift' is the commitment.

I always remember abbott saying 'not to believe everything he says" I'll try and find it for you if you like
Unsubstantiated claims would be the ones about Abbott chatting up young women to take back to that massive amazing monastery in Manly while he was in priest training. :D:D:D
