Looks huge on the news.....interesting that a neighbour has stated that she knew the guy for many years and he seemed ordinary, now you wouldn't expect them to walk around with a sign would you lol

In its self-proclaimed status as a caliphate, it claims religious authority over all Muslims across the world[67] and aspires to bring most of the Muslim-inhabited regions of the world under its political control[68] beginning with territory in the Levant region which includes Jordan, Israel, Palestine, Lebanon, Cyprus and part of southern Turkey.[69]

Maybe, but Australian's would also face the same dilemma if they knew a family member was guilty of or planning something evil

aren't we all australians ??

islam is a religion not  nationality

Supposedly we are all Australians first. However for some it is religion first, country comes afterwards, probably not even second. What is happening now with ISIS is not what Muslims are about. ISIS are terrorists first and last, We ignore elements within this country who sympathise at our peril.

Allow me to make a suggestion ..... you can tear me apart if you wish.

If the Muslim's in general are serious about being peaceful they could easily find those who are a threat to Australia and deal with them, otherwise, they are condoing their behaviour.

What makes you think it would be easy to find those who pose a risk?

There are parents who have gone to the authorities about their own children but I don't quite understand how the entire muslim community would know what all other muslim people are doing and thinking.

What do you mean by dealing with them?  Do you  mean report them to police?  Do you mean behead them or hog tie and beat them?

Re: The terror raids have begun!

Australian National Security

The Islamic State is an Iraq and Syria-based Sunni extremist group and former al‑Qa'ida affiliate that adheres to the global jihadist ideology.

The Islamic State follows an extreme interpretation of Islam which is anti-Western, promotes sectarian violence and targets those that do not agree with its interpretations as infidels and apostates.

The Islamic State's announcement of a caliphate claims the land from Aleppo in Syria to Diyala in Iraq, the Sunni-dominated areas of both countries. Eventually, it aims to establish a salafist-orientated Islamist state spanning Iraq, Syria and other parts of the Levant.

Well if you don't find it relevant leave it where it was.

It was someone's way of teasing Az about looking at porn in relation to her comment about computer searches for terrorist plots

It is like saying that if a person in your street committed crime, all the people in the street should have known about it.  Often even spouses do not know what their partners are up to.  Parents even more often; I used to see a young girl and her boyfriend having sex  in the gully on my property.  I knew her mother, and she was always criticising "nowadays kids" for not having morals, and how proud she is of her daughter, who was going to be a virgin when she married.

So are you happy that we have terriosts on our soil  I take it and you object to the terror raids?  Would that be correct?

I have no objection to the Police raiding the homes of suspected terrorists, but before we get too gung-ho about it all, perhaps a little recent history lesson might be in order.

Who cried? I haven't noticed any tears just a comment or two about the image of a beheaded Christine Milne being offensive to them.

The computer search comment was a light hearted comment about searching computers for evidence.  It wasn't anything that should have been made into a big issue.
