I think we can now put the war monger cries to bed now.
This is a threat of global proportions and a direct threat to us. A threat like this is exceedingly difficult to prevent. A direct threat to Australians that the govt acted upon and launched operation Hammerhead. The very same raids they have been hammered for on this thread.
We are not privvy to all the security information so we trust our elected government to act in the best interests of our people and country.
The govt has my support and we should all support each other and our government in times like this instead of cheap political slagging off.

Thanks a lot LNP for helping to create this situation.
We should be a peaceful country. Not one that locks up asylum seekers if they don't die at sea once they are turned back (how would we know) and wages war on another country when we are told to do so and creates suspicion and fear.
For what?

Wages war when we are told? More like jumping in encouraging others to hurry up and go to war already.

SUPPORT for the Coalition has risen to a five-month high as voters show their approval of Tony Abbott’s handling of national security matters, with a six-point leap in the Prime Minister’s personal satisfaction rating taking it to the highest level since November.
It worked. Hooray!!!
But how much did it cost?

100% Agree, the herd mentality is still alive and well, the mantra's are still being chanted.
I will wait to see just how they react when an act of barbarism is staged here, but we don't even have to wait for that do we? what about the Australian suicide bomber and the ones killed after going over there and all the one's still over there fighting?? What about that.
Any answers to what drove these people to go to Syria many months ago, so many went on "humanitarian" grounds and nothing was said until the 17 yr old blew himself up.
We don't even have to wait for an atrocity to happen here, why??? it's already happened with the young now radicalised in Australia.
But keep on with your anti government peddling, the sensible and mature people we now have running the country will do OK and that's what all the whinging is really about isn't it?

we are a small cross section of the general Australian community, the way people see things is reflected further afield than here

If Gillard or Rudd was in power there would be a very different mantra on here.
And yes, this is a small pond and does not reflect the wider community of support that the PM has, his support is rising every day for his steady governance of our country, see the latest newspoll.
So yes, this pond on here does nothing but reflect the bias of the handful of vocal and partisan anti government old comrades, the comrades who just can't come to grips that labor are no longer in government, the country and the majority has moved on and moved with the Prime Minister.
