I wonder are we allowed to have a discussion on this topic. (My mum did teach me the three golden rules of conversation but I'm choosing to ignore her teaching as I find those three topics to be most intersting, important, relevent and necessary to discuss) Especially religion. I do ask though could we please try to be tolerant of peoples views and opinions.
ITS ONLY A DISCUSSION AND WE ARE ALL ADULTS SO PLEASE KEEP PERSONAL INSULTS, HATE COMMENTS AND THE LIKE OUT OF THIS THREAD. IF YOU'RE NOT INTERESTED OR CANT HANDLE THIS TYPE OF DISCUSSION YOU DONT HAVE TO GET INVOLVED. I"M SO INTERESTED TO HEAR PEOPLES VIEWS.
So whats your view.

All theists are atheist except for one God. So the default position is everyone is an Atheist.
There shouldn't even be a word for Atheism.
What do you call a group who doesn't collect stamps? THere is none.
What do you call a group who doesn't believe in UFOs? THere is none.

I've heard that analogy before. I disagree. I think atheism is every bit as much a religion as Christianity, Islam or Judaism. And athiests will defend their (choice) to not believe just as much as any thiest will defend their (choice) to believe.

Theists believe in God. A-theists don't believe in God...
Now, the 'A' indicates 'without' and can be found in a great number of words indicating 'without' - hence A-theist is without God.
I could think of lots of examples but not at this time of night

Ah ha! lightbulb...
Gnostic = relating to knowledge, especially esoteric mystical knowledge.
A-gnostic = a person who believes that nothing is known or can be known of the existence or nature of God.
And with it's good night from me xx

semantics.
Ask any religious person if they've believe in 9,999 Gods that have ever existed. They'll say no. It's merely semantics. Theists know what it's like to be an atheists to Zeus or Thor.

I believe in God, my OH is an agnostic.... he believes we don't have the knowledge to determine if there is a God or not.
