COLLEGE CRY-INS: Election Distraught Students Get Coddled By Universities Across The Country
One could only hope a Trump administration would also sway American society enough to toughen up a very soft, squishy, social justice, millennial culture.
This really takes the cake. Students, who just can’t seem to “cope” with the election outcome are now receiving “special” attention from college administrators. Tissues, hot chocolate, and therapy dogs.
The Wall Street Journal gives the details.
Dozens of students at Cornell University gathered on a major campus thoroughfare for a “cry-in” to mourn the results of the 2016 presidential election Wednesday, with school staff providing tissues and hot chocolate.
At Tufts University, arts and crafts were on offer. And the University of Kansas reminded students via social media of the therapy dogs available for comfort every other Wednesday.
The WSJ goes on to outline how the “despair” on campuses across the country has prompted a reinforcement of the label “snowflakes” and that’s just not … nice. This is how University of Michigan students spent their day.
There was a steady flow of students entering Ms. Boynton’s office Wednesday. They spent the day sprawled around the center, playing with Play-Doh and coloring in coloring books, as they sought comfort and distraction.

The world is in a dire situation if some of these ‘adults’ end up in superior positions. Offices located above the 1st floor will have to have barred windows because of the uncontrollable urge for one of these snowflakes to defenestrate at the first hint of bad news. Can you imagine the mass suicides or the shortage of Play Doh that might follow a plummet in sales figures or the loss of a legal matter in court?

Maybe those of us that are eBay sellers could capitalise on this. Stock up on playdoh and sell it to the Yanks. Once supplies run low over there, we could jack our prices right up. Win win! Might help those who's sales have plummeted over the last few months.

While it's a pathetic situation, it's probably preferable to them going on a looting/burning rampage in protest, which is akin to them throwing a tantrum.

I'm sure some of these students have never received a set back in their lives.
They don't seem to realise democracy means you get a vote, it doesn't necessarily mean you get your own way.
I used to see this 'age of entitlement' being nurtured by parents when i was a teacher.
I well recall one parent coming along in ahuff, demanding to know when her son would be receiving an award at assembly as he was put out, he hadn't received one.
The awards were for endeavour or exemplary work/behaviour & her son had not earned one, it was as simple as that.
But she saw the prin about it. It wasn't a query-it was a demand for an award!!

I heard on the ABC that some of the unis have set up Grief Rooms.
My mind boggles.

Well, you obviously have no idea how difficult life has been for many Americans since the GFC. While the economy is slowly improving and number of jobs created is rising, many people earn less than they did before GFC. Many graduate are unable to get a reasonable job, and they graduate with huge debts.
people protesting NOT because the election did not go their way; they are protesting because the GOP supporters fought the dirtiest campaign in history, and about 20% of the population believed all that bleep that was being published about HRC. Trump told them he is against the crooked establishment LOL, and they just lapped it up. Trump is one of the most dishonest businessmen around, he does not pay people, he rips off anybody he can. He was born with not just a silver spoon, but whole solid gold dinning set.
The people protesting NOT because HRC lost the election; they are protesting about how she lost by FBI intervention right through, and then in last minute yet one more fraudulent trick; "we have more emails, oh sorry, no we do not". That was after years spending hundreds of millions of taxpayers' money on investigating HRC and finding absolutely nothing illegal.
They are protesting because they know their future and the future of their children is in serious trouble under GOP.
